Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Arredondo.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been exposed to intimate Hispanic family gatherings since a very young age. I was taught that food always brings people together. I always sat back and took a liking to the process of paella. Not so much the food itself, but more the process of getting to the final product. I am a full-time teacher by day and run my side business as well. I was always assigned with the task of grilling and making paella at family gatherings. Because of this, I’ve perfected my variations of the rich Hispanic dish.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I decided to turn my visions and dreams into a reality right when Covid hit. The quarantine and a lot of time to myself allowed for deep thinking on how to get the ball rolling. At first, it was hard to get clients as people were practicing the recommended social distancing. Almost all of my clients have been through word of mouth. As soon as my IG and website went live, I couldn’t be busier!
Rookie’s Rice – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company is a catering company that offers on-site cooking! What sets me apart from other companies is very obvious. My personal character is what I get great feedback o. My old school upbringing has molded me into the individual I am today. With Rookie’s Rice not only do you get delicious food but a pleasant experience that is second to none.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am born and raised in the “305”. A true “Kendall Boy”. I am also a firm believer of contributing to your community and being an active member. Miami is so diverse. I am proud to be from here. Our people, culture, music, and food is heavily influenced by Hispanic backgrounds.
