Today we’d like to introduce you to Meikhele Campbell of Baby Bliss Boutique.
Meikhele, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am so proud of Baby Bliss Boutique and our growth as a business. Baby Bliss started as a boutique that carried a small selection of clothing from size newborn to 24 months. Now we carry all sizes from newborn to 4T in certain outfits as well as purses and hair accessories. We have expanded from only 2 Brand Ambassadors to 4 Brand Ambassadors and 15 Brand Representatives from various parts of the United States to Canada in my a year’s time.
I love children and fashion so I decided why not mix the two! I’d always have a nieces and nephews in the latest and hottest fashion while still being cost-efficient so I wanted to bless other children with the same. I founded Baby Bliss Boutique to help mothers and fathers find affordable, classy, and fashionable styles for their mini Kings/Queen while still maintaining a child appropriate look. As my mother very often says, “Tun Yuh Han Mek Fashan,” a Patois phrase that means “Use what you have and get creative.” My inspirations for my business are my nieces Ke’Deja, Sahjara, Saoirshe, Amani, and Phoenix (My Brand Ambassador), my nephews Amir, Amari, Tendaji, Dylan, and Ajai (My Brand Ambassador), my only God daughter, Jenesis, and my only God son, El’Rey.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Maintaining a business while being a full-time state employee and a full-time Graduate Student is very challenging and can be extremely tiring. I’d say organization and marketing my key to success. Since Covid-19 and the advancement of the Black Lives Matter Movement, online black-owned businesses sales rose. This contributed to Baby Bliss’s exposure and sales increase.
Baby Bliss Boutique – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Baby Bliss Boutique is a black-owned online store that specializes in baby/toddler attire. We have continually featured a variety of high-quality and affordable products since our opening in September 2019. I am proud to say our website has been viewed all over the world from North and South America, Australia, Africa, and Europe.
Baby Bliss caters to specifically to infants and toddlers with a few selections for ages 4-6 years old. Our high fashion attire, as well as being black-owned is what sets Baby Bliss apart from other Boutiques.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Our proudest moment as a company was when we were chosen to be one of the highlighted Black-Owned Businesses on 2 top radio stations, 99Jamz and Hot 105, in Feb 2020! We were shared on all there social media platforms and on live stream on the radio station for the entire month of February.
