Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgia Richards.
Georgia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After completing High School, I knew that I wanted to do something with my life that would involve me interacting with the public and something that would allow me to be in charge of my life. I went to Cosmetology School and focused on doing Nails and Facials. I’m extremely artistic and have a flair for design. Therefore, after completing Cosmetology School, I began working doing nails for a very visible, well known Nail Salon. I met a lot of people and really concentrated on bringing my passion to work and creating designs.
In 2000, I decided to take a leap and trust myself. I opened Georgia’s Nail Creations and More. I did not want just an ordinary “Nail Salon.” I wanted a place where customers could come, relax and unwind. And I also wanted to add what I call “The Georgia Touch” to every design I created, every facial I did and be a listener for those that entered my doors and needed to talk. It has been nearly 20 years and to this day, I can say that I still enjoy and am excited whenever I wake up and start my day, preparing to see my customers. Over 90% of my clients are the same clients I started with when I started my business. They are now my friends, my confidants and we support each other emotionally and spiritually.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course, it has not been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges have been my desire to give others opportunities to work alongside me and they not being able to operate under the culture that I’ve set for “The Shop.” Let me explain; In order for there to be a feeling of peace and tranquility, everyone has to intentionally operate with that in mind. That means our voices are calm. We schedule appointments and adhere to the time we’ve set and most importantly, we do quality work and do not have our clients waiting.
So, after several attempts, I decided that in order for me to give clients the type of experience I wanted them to have and what they’ve come to expect, I would work in “the Shop” alone. This decision has allowed me to give each client One-on-One Personal Service… “The Georgia Touch.”
Georgia’s Nail Creations and More – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Georgia’s Nail Creations and More is a Premier Nail Salon located in Riviera Beach. Georgia’s is known to be a place where you can get quality service; Nails, Pedicures, Facials, Lashes, and Waxing. My schedule is usually full and I do not take walk-ins. Every one of my clients knows that I will do whatever is necessary to accommodate their schedule if an emergency arises and they need to reschedule. Once a client walks through the doors of Georgia’s, they know they are there for the Experience.
Every five years, I host a Holiday Appreciation Party for my clients and we celebrate! I believe what sets Geogia’s Nail Creations apart from others is the fact that we genuinely care and support each other. Georgia’s support youth groups, women’s groups, and several local churches. We operate with a Spirit of Love and Gratitude.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as Commitment to improving yourself and being willing to share with others. It does not mean that everything goes according to plan, but that you do not give up. You keep moving forward, knowing that better is ahead of each of us. I believe that in order for anyone to truly have success, you must care about others and your community. It has to be about all of us!
