Has it been a smooth road?
Growing up as a foster child and later being adopted, I struggled with abandonment issues like most young children who experience neglect. I wondered if I was good enough to love because the person who was supposed to love me the most decided to leave. I spent a lot of my adolescent years struggling with self-worth and self-love. I had to learn that LOVE was an inside job and a role that could only be satisfied by me. When I realized the true essence of love, I decided that I wasn’t going to wait for love to arrive, I would give myself the time, adoration, attention and care necessary for me to show up as the best version of myself. When we love ourselves first, we create space to love others authentically and unconditionally.

Please tell us about Adopting Courage.
Adopting courage LLC is an empowerment brand with a focus on advocating for mental wellness, self- love and personal growth. Through books, workshops, presentations and community service, my company serves at-risk youth, children who are survivors of abuse and those most vulnerable in the foster care and adoption service agencies. My goal is to normalize mental health conversations and prioritize healing while providing a safe place for individuals to connect, share their stories and heal from trauma.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the eccentric vibe and diversity of Miami. The weather is always warm and inviting. I frequent Prime 112. Being able to pull up and order the Prime Fish brunch pre-COVID was apart of my self-care routine. It was something I would look forward to. Now with COVID precautions and social distancing, the experience hasn’t been the same. I still enjoy Yachting, water activities and even spending time at the pool. I find that it’s easy to stay grounded when I’m surrounded by the serenity of the water or the beauty of nature in my back yard.
