Meet Gladlyne Hamilton of Styled by Lyne in South Broward and Miami-Dade County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gladlyne Hamilton.

Gladlyne, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had a love for fashion. After graduating Coral Reef Senior High, I enrolled at The Art Institute to pursue a bachelor’s in Fashion Merchandise. Coupled with the fear of solely relying on my creativity and my natural desire to uplift and service my community, I completed a Master’s degree in Public Admission. The desire to style and create was to hard to ignore that in 2015 I created a style by Lyne. I began displaying and documenting my style journey, which then propelled me into a freelance photography career. I was so blessed to be surrounded by so many creatives during this time. This really helped me blossom personally and professionally.

The different types of photography I was able to practice really expanded my range as a photographer. After photographing a women’s march in 2018, I knew black women would be the my focus for my brand. The strength, unity, protection and love that I felt impacted me. Black women need more positive representation. We are so influential in society. Our families and especially our daughters, deserve to see us… to see themselves. They deserve to see all the many types of black women because we come in many shapes, colors and sizes. This mission is so important to me. Capturing memories is truly a passion. But nothing fulfills me more than adding to the imagery of black culture. Who better to uplift and appreciate than the black woman?

Styled by Lyne, has grown into a creative boutique that offers brand styling and photography to small businesses. Freelance photography is still a major part of my business, mainly focusing on lifestyle.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My biggest struggle was managing the many hats of a small business owner. No one warns you that this dream will require you to learn so many other trades. I wanted to create, not do accounting, marketing, and advertising. It’s a constant game of trial and error.

Styled by Lyne – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
In addition to freelance photography, Styled by Lyne offers brand styling. A guide comprising of a design, typography, color to logos and imagery. We love and appreciate business from everyone within the community but take pride in highlighting the beauty of black women and the black family. This is the key that sets us apart from other businesses.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is underlying, defined by balance. The ability to find balance within your passions and all your other needs. The ability to feel fulfilled by doing what you love and still providing for your other needs. This, to me, an enriched life.
