Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristy Pilar and Andy G.
Kristy and Andy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all began when we met for the first time at Marked 4 Life. We always shared the same love for tattooing and vision for what we pictured as the perfect studio. What we always dreamt about quickly became a reality and we began running our own tattoo shop. We found the perfect location, opened up and here we are five years later. Lots of hard work and dedication towards building Vantablack from the bottom up, we are now so proud of all we have accomplished and the amazing crew behind our doors.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For the most part its been pretty smooth, our experience from managing previous tattoo shops has been an advantage but like anything in life, there are always some obstacles we face. I think our biggest struggle has been facing a global pandemic where we have to adapt to new safety guidelines to being shut down. Through it all, we have been able to succeed.
Please tell us about Vantablack Tattoo Gallery.
Our company is Vantablack Tattoo Gallery. We are a family-owned business specializing in black and grey tattoos. We also do piercings and occasionally paint. We are known for our dedication to tattoos and the culture it brings, from painting on canvas to airbrushing on lowriders. What sets us apart from others is that we are a shop that doesn’t profit from our artists. We created a sanctuary where artists can thrive not only in the art of tattooing but in life in general. We are most proud of the accomplishments that our shop has been able to achieve from becoming better artists, to reaching any goals we set for ourselves, like traveling to different conventions and tattooing celebrities.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We wouldn’t change anything if we had to start over. Everything we have gone through has built us to where we are right now.
