Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie and Nathalie Cohen.
Melanie and Nathalie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
With our good friend Liliana who share the same passion for plants, started making succulent and plant arrangements for ourselves, then teachers, friends and family. From there, we eventually incorporated the company as “Desert Vibes Boutique.”
We started marketing our company on social media and opened a small showroom in Aventura, FL. After connecting with our first few customers, we realized we had a great opportunity to be successful while offering these products and services. It doesn’t come easy for any us. We all work full-time in other jobs, are full-time moms and also have regular daily life commitments. However, we put in the time and the work to make it happen for our customers and for us. We find common joy in providing plant and succulent arrangements to people who wouldn’t have them without us. Sharing our passion and love for plants has been a crucial motivator into our dedication and commitment to the work we are doing.
Why the name Desert Vibes? After Melanie lived in California for a couple of years, she fell in love with cactus and succulents. Having an affinity for the California Desert and how easy it is to maintain these plants alive and looking beautiful as they do. She loves the “vibes” you get when around the cacti and from some of our other popular plants. So the name was born Desert Vibes. We realized a lot of people are not aware of how beneficial and stress-free is to own succulents and plants, so our mission became to show the world we can help you do it.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting a business is never easy. It was actually very slow to start, but we continued to persevere and work hard. It was difficult to find the time, sometimes working late nights, odd hours, and looking for help along the way.

We specialize in plant and succulents arrangements. Most of our customers ask for custom made arrangements, choosing planters or vases, plants, toppings and colors. We are known for beautiful and simple live plants and succulents designs. Our signatures include Zebra Cactus, Money Tree, Echeverias, Jade Plant, Snake Plants. All of these are low maintenance plants perfect for a home, office and vacation homes. We also do party favors, workshops, events and we recently started offering a plant interior design for homes or offices.
What were you like growing up?
Melanie, from very early on, grew up with a mother and grandmother passionate about all types of plants. Her profession is a law, but life has taken her to another direction finding in plants what she is really passionate about just like the other women of her family. Being a mother of two, plants have shown her a relaxing way to relieve her stress of the hectic everyday life.
Liliana, a businesswoman, was the one who pushed us to further pursue our passion for plants here in Florida. Her knowledge of plants helped us to create the company. She recently decided to take a different direction since the company has grown significantly in the last few months, but we are very grateful for every input she has made for all these months.
Nathalie, an HR Manager by profession, has an eye for detail and helped us bring the latest trends to our customers. Always a perfectionist, she looks to make sure each customer completely satisfied and happy with our services.
