Meet Regina Nugiel of Proper Spaces in North Miami Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Nugiel.

Regina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Proper Spaces was an idea that had been planted in my head about five years ago, before I even knew that professional organizing was actually a “thing.” It was tough to pursue at the time because soon after I decided to start, I received a promotion at my current job. There were just not enough hours in a day to do both, and too big of a risk to leave my job and pursue this dream of mine. I wasn’t ready to take the leap, but I like to believe that everything happens for a reason.

I had been working in luxury retail for a wonderful brand for over 12 years. I started off as a part-time sales associate and in the end, I left with experience in not only sales, but operations, management, and visual merchandising. This job opened my eyes to my true passions and gave me the knowledge that I needed to create what I have today – Proper Spaces.

Proper Spaces was finally born a little over a year ago. I was still working at my job, but I was approaching a time in my life where I felt like it was now or never. I had to give Proper Spaces a real chance and see how far I could take it. Within the first year, I built its foundation – licensing, branding, everything I could think of to make this idea come to life. Soon after, I began acquiring some amazing clients through the simple magic of word of mouth. I finally knew what it felt like to do something I loved so much that it didn’t feel like work, but it was beginning to take a toll on me. I was working both jobs – a total average of seven days a week, sometimes 12 hours a day.

One year later, I knew that it was time. I felt confident enough in my work and business to finally be able to give it my all and leave my “day job”. I know it’s all still relatively new, but I’m excited to watch it grow, transform, and reach its full potential.

Has it been a smooth road?
I have to say that it hasn’t been an easy year, considering the current situation with COVID-19, but I’m sure that this has been a bump in the road that I’ve been sharing with most people around the world. My job requires being in people’s homes and businesses, and it’s completely understandable how/why people could see this as a risk. Unfortunately, this is a circumstance completely out of our hands and all we can do is wait for things to get better. I would like to emphasize that I am doing everything possible to keep both my clients and myself safe throughout our in-home sessions.

We’d love to hear more about Proper Spaces.
Proper Spaces is a South Florida based company that specializes in creating ideally organized spaces with personalized systems to instill smart and efficient solutions for everyday life. Whether space is a home or a business, I offer in-person services, as well as virtual services to anyone within the US and Canada. I tackle all problem areas, leaving clients with a space that is functional, simple, and stylish.

As a (I’d like to think) young, driven, Miami native, I’m determined to educate people on the importance of maintaining an organized lifestyle and how it can improve their everyday lives. Hiring a professional organizer is an investment for the home and the mind.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I like to look at professional organizing as an essential service. People everywhere live busy lives with work, families, and everything in between. There’s a reason why people hire me – they either don’t have the time to organize certain areas in their homes or they simply don’t know how/where to begin. That’s where I come in *wink*.

Miami is a large diverse city and I feel that there’s a market for everything here. At the same time, Miami is extremely transient and those who visit or live here part-time support the brands and businesses that they know – businesses with the means to advertise and market in a bigger way. I believe that Miami as a whole, needs to do better at supporting the local businesses as opposed to large corporations. We can start by simply using those local services, buying from local brands, and using our platforms to share what they have to offer.
