Today we’d like to introduce you to Pritha Muneswar.
Pritha Muneswar is a Canadian born hairstylist who got her start in Toronto. While volunteering to do hair in high school fashion shows, she realized her passion. After three year apprenticeship with an award-winning master stylist, Pritha moved to Miami shortly after 9/11 and was met with many obstacles, including being an Indian in a new country. “Miami was definitely a little bit of a culture shock when I got here, but one that I fell in love with!” she says. Additionally, Florida State did not recognize her Canadian Hairstylist license and had to retake her exam to begin her career in Miami.
Pritha has since worked in the Miami area servicing international clientele at high-end salons and eventually simultaneously managing multiple hair and nail salons. In 2019 Pritha embarked on a new journey actualizing one of her many dreams and ambitions. Putting together a strong team of stylists with a shared passion for hair and dedication to technique – Pritha opened THE MANE GROUP in Coral Gables. Pritha and the Mane Group has been sought after to work behind the scenes at many fashion shows including, MiamiSwim Week annually, NYFW 2020 and were extremely appreciative to be included at the Dior Show, Men’s Fall 2019, last December in Miami.
Pritha believes in growing her knowledge of the industry through education and is certified in cutting and has extensive training in coloring. Pritha says, “One the many things I learned along the way is, we can never stop learning. This will be the death of us.” Pritha is working on a program to bridge the gap between school and creating a successful career for newly graduated cosmetology students.
Pritha loves giving back to the local and international community through a variety of charities and volunteer work that she enjoys doing with her family while growing her business and career. She also enjoys relaxing in her garden and cooking new things. Last but not least…”Be Yourself!!”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
What I will say is, nothing worth having comes easy! It’s takes a lot out of you, but you can never give up!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Mane Group Salon story. Tell us more about the business.
The Mane Group Salon opened in June 2019. We are a group of talented, passionate and creative individuals. We are always striving to be our best selves, making education a priority for our team. While I am proud of being able to participate in the fashion events, like the Dior show And New York Fashion week, I also find it very rewarding working behind the chair… nothing feels better than making your clients happy.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Maybe it was luck, or the universe aligning…not sure. I believe hard work pays off, and so far it hasn’t let me down!
