Alexis, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hair By LXS Salon originated in Atlanta, GA, in 2012 with the pursuit of my passion for the beauty business. Nevertheless, in 2014 I decided to take my talents to South Florida. Upon arrival, I quickly got to work building my clientele, starting with house calls and finally opening my salon that has now been servicing the city of Miami for 6+ years. It has not been easy; however, hard work and dedication have flourished into a continuously growing business that has been able to give back to the community and cater to some of Miami’s elite.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Moving to Miami with two suitcases, no connections, and little resources was the initial challenge. My determination and ability to build relationships helped me to take my business to the next level. Once establishing the business, I also encountered people with ill intentions and some that lacked moral principles which was definitely a learning curve. Every challenge has definitely evolved into a lesson along the way.

Hair By LXS Salon has been offering a wide range of hair services to all hair types for over six years. We specialize in cuts, custom color, blowouts, extensions, wigs, braids, and dreadlocks. We take pride in taking care of your hair while giving you a look you’ve always desired. Hair By LXS Salon also proudly offers vegan hair color and organic treatments which maintain the quality of the hair.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my fondest memories from childhood is getting my first job at Publix when I was 14. I would treat myself to trips to the hair salon every two weeks. I loved the smell, the stories, the culture of women being able to just come in and let their hair down – no pun intended, lol.
