Today we’d like to introduce you to Maureen M.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Maureen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My name is Maureen. I’m a Palm Beach County resident and lifestyle blogger/YouTube content creator. I started making videos after graduating from high school in 2009. Since then, I have shared my entire life on the internet.
On May 1, 2019, I launched my blog, themagicalmundanelife.com. I have shared multiple heartfelt posts about foster care, my struggles and my achievements. In February 2020, I won the South Florida Blogger Union award for Best Inspirational Blogger in 2019. I have shared my entire journey to motherhood on my blog, YouTube channel and Instagram account. My husband and I had unexplained fertility issues, two miscarriages and a failed fertility treatment. After years of trying to have biological children, we felt like we were being called to foster children in our community. We went through the eight-month process to become licensed foster parents and received our first placement on August 9th, 2018.
After a long back and fourth case plan, we were so excited to learn that we would finally be able to adapt our son, who has been in our care since he was four months old. Due to Covid-19, we could not have a typical adoption hearing in the courtroom surrounded by family and friends. We were pretty sad that the day wouldn’t be what we had envisioned for so long. Thankfully the day was better than we could have planned, that seems to be the story of our life!
On May 15, 2020, my husband and I adopted our two-year-old foster son via Zoom. It was such a happy day, made better by all of the love and support we received from countless strangers online. While we were fostering our son, we weren’t not able to show his face or say his name online due to privacy reasons. In videos and blog posts, I called him by a nickname, bubba. I often showed the back of his head or blurred out his eyes in photos. The Instagram post revealing his name and face received over 3,000 likes and 580 comments.
Sharing my life on the internet for thousands of people to watch isn’t always easy. On days when I rethink my decision to share so much, I’m reminded of the countless emails, DMs and comments I’ve received from ladies who are so thankful I shared my struggle. Letting people know they are not alone is why I continue to share. I want my videos, blog posts and photos to be honest and encouraging.
Has it been a smooth road?
When you share your life online, you’re opening yourself up to judgment and criticism. When I read a hurtful comment about myself or the people I love, it stings. However, over the years, I’ve learned to take those negative comments with a grain of salt. It’s hard to judge someone by a few clips of their 24 hour day. I also believe that when people say mean things about others, it often stems from their own hurt and heartaches.

I love working with companies that fit my brand. I enjoy traveling and often share that on my YouTube channel and blog. I have had great experiences working with hotels and local hotspots. Because my brand is really just my life and what I do on an everyday basis, I promote products and companies that I am personally enjoying using. I have built trust with my subscribers and followers and I would never want to ruin that by promoting something I didn’t personally believe in and support.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Social Media is always growing and evolving. I’m sure there will be new apps and websites to connect us with like-minded individuals, promote our brand and products. I think social media marketing will continue to grow and become a higher priority to businesses all over the world.
