Today we’d like to introduce you to Edgar Senquiz.
Edgar, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My Dad was a security guard in a hospital in New Jersey for many years while I was growing up. I always wanted to follow in his footsteps as I got older. Sadly, he passed away when I was just 24 years old. I moved to Florida in 2012 and I had a full-time job but decided to pursue my dream and get my licenses to be a security officer. I worked for a few companies, but a lot of them only offered part-time work. After a few years, I started to research what it would take to start my own security company. So in 2018, with the support and encouragement of my wife, my brother-in-law, and in-laws, I decided to start my own company. Our company has grown by word of mouth over the past two years. I feel so blessed to do something that I love every day. I know my Dad would be so proud of my company.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We had a smooth start and we were really beginning to grow. The business was the best it had ever been at the start of 2020. But once Covid-19 hit, a lot has changed for us because we had a few clients that were churches. We know people will always need security, so we believe more contracts are going to come. The struggles are what make us stronger.
Zion Protection Services – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Zion Protection Services is a security company. Our services offer security surveillance, securing clients, crowd control, parking lot patrol, and personal security.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment was when I got my first contract in a church when I first launched my business. It was so exciting to know my company was being used to help keep the people there safe. Another proud moment was when my Father in Law, who retired from 30 years of working in the Pharmaceutical Industry, decided to get all of his security licenses and join my team. It is an honor to work side by side with him.
