Meet Taneisha Riley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taneisha Riley.

Taneisha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I knew along time ago that I enjoyed cooking however, I developed a passion for cooking when I migrated to the United States. I was born and raised in Jamaica. I moved to the United States about 13 years ago. I found myself trying to stay connected with my culture through food.

I also became the designated Chef whenever friends or family would host any type of event. The pleasure on everyone’s face and also the feedback to see my meals being devoured just made me develop a deep love for the kitchen and that’s basically how I started. At the moment I have a career in Property Management but my passion is changing lives through food. I recently began my catering business. I eventually would love to cross over into the private chef world and take my own time to follow this path. I’ve always heard the saying that says when you do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life.

Has it been a smooth road?
At the moment I can’t elaborate on struggles because I have been so blessed to have the right people in my corner who has been very supportive and has been here for me, which is why I truly believe that it is because of them I haven’t encountered the struggles that I’ve heard from other chefs, but at the same time I’m just getting into the game so who to tell, on a more positive note, let’s be optimistic and say that there will be no struggles.

Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
I’m in the Catering business. My company is called Taneisha Riley LLC DBA tcookswithflave. I specialize in Jamaican Cuisine, however I do know how to cross over. I’m very connected with my culture. What I am most proud about is the fact that I gained the courage and got started with my business, I did not allow fear to take control of my destiny and even though I am not close to where I plan to be, I am very proud of what I’ve built so far. The vision that I have for my company it’s enormous and I’m very excited. What sets me apart from others is my personality, my purpose and my passion. I want to be known for excellent customer service and my irresistible food. My goal is to have every client feel special and if I can accomplish that it would make me very happy.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see myself traveling with clients as their personal chef, touring the world promoting my cookbook, as well promoting my kitchen utensils product line and more. I am branding and building my empire.
