Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Smith and Bertha Miller.
Tammy and Bertha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2018 I, Tammy had the vision to create a lipstick line. Bertha then came to me in 2019 with the same exact vision and neither of us knew that the other had this vision. When Bertha came to me with her vision, I said to her, “That is a confirmation of God, let’s do it!” We wanted our products to be Vegan because so many people are allergic to products out there that does not agree with them. Our Lipstick and Lip gloss is high pigmented, paraben-free, mineral-based and cruelty-free! It is, “The Lipstick That Makes Your Smile As Sweet As Cake!”
CakeLipps, LLC is in honor of our dear Grandma Bert who passed away in May 2012.
Bertha and I had a vision back in 2018 to create our very own lipstick line. In March 2019, CakeLipps became our very own company. Joy McCormick, my co-worker gave us the idea of our name. In 2017, I started working for a company where Joy and I met she gave me the nickname “Cakes”. I was a little confused at first and I could not understand why she would take one look at me and decide to call me “Tammy Cakes”. Joy responded and said, that is what I will call you because you look like a “Tammy Cakes”. I responded by saying, “Okay, that’s cool.” You never know what people God place in your life to bless in order for your dreams to come true.
We also have a “National Vegan Lipstick Day” in the National Archives that will be celebrated every February 28th every year. This is also in Honor or our Grandmother Bertha Smith who loved her Wine color lipstick. One of our lipstick is named after her and it is called Grandma Bert Bundt Cake #680.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some of our struggles were making sure we have enough products for our customers. Making sure they are satisfied with the products. We wanted to make sure they understand that CakeLipps is in this for healthy side of it and not just for the beauty alone. This is why we chose our lipsticks and lip glosses to be Vegan. Other than that, it had been a smooth road so far.

CakeLipps is a company that provides women of all colors a vegan product that is cruelty-free and will help rejuvenate their lips.
We specialize in catering to restoring lips to its natural state, by adding moisture and natural ingredients to our product. Per our customers, our product is long-lasting, moisturizes the lips, and it has a beautiful smell and the lip glosses taste yummy. Our product is also Kid Friendly.
We are proud because we are making women happy with our product and how they introduce our products to people they know. We are mostly proud because we are doing this in Honor of our Grandmother.
What sets us apart from others is that we know our product works for people because we have gotten great reviews. Also, we have given them a product that is less than retail cost, something that people can afford.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If we had to start all over again, we would save funds so that would not have to struggle.
