Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Cieslinski and JJ Follano.
Sarah and JJ, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Myself & co-founder, JJ, have lived in South Florida our entire lives, surrounding ourselves in nature, and have seen first-hand the devastation plastic has had on our environment and wildlife. We decided to do something about it, so we started Zero Waste Store! We couldn’t have imagined how much we would grow to where we are today.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Pretty smooth with a lot of growth in the last 1.5 years! There are always bumps in the road but we like to focus on the bigger picture – protecting and preserving our environment – which makes every struggle worth it!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memories are playing outside every day. Growing up learning about all of the different native bird species from my dad, having pet tortoises, saving baby squirrels, going on hike’s through our local trails, taking family trips to Sanibel Island, and so much more!
JJ says that his favorite childhood memory is adventuring through the woods in his families backyard where he would climb trees and observe local wildlife. He also loved going to the beach.
