Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Beck.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sandra. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m the proud founder of Tidy Tots Diapers. I find inspiration and motivation from our smallest, sweetest, messiest, most adorable creations; our children. And I strive to make their future a safer and better place.
They say, “It takes a village to raise a child.” And it took a village to create this diaper, too! With the help of over 100 families, we have tested, re-tested, refined and perfected Tidy Tots Diapers. Most importantly, these diapers were designed to use an organic disposable liner, called Flushies, that snaps and locks into place. That means you simply flush away the mess. Tidy Tots is the next generation of diapering that bridges the gap between disposables and cloth. Good for your baby with the convenience of disposables. Our 100’s of patented features work together to ensure our diapers are easy, saves you lots of time & money; while delivering unsurpassed performance. I believe it’s the most natural and most effective way to diaper our little ones while enabling a healthier environment for their future. It’s been my pleasure to work with so many wonderful parents and their adorable little babies as I developed Tidy Tots.
I am incredibly fortunate that my daughter Sara, has joined me on this amazing journey. Sara has dedicated herself to supporting Tidy Tots and together our passion has grown by leaps and bounds. We are committed to providing a groundbreaking cloth diaper, as well as superior customer service.
We both are also very committed and passionate about giving back. All our diapers are manufactured in upstate New York at Pine Ridge Industries a division of Schenectady ARC. Did you know that 50 thousand young people graduate each year from high school who are on the autism spectrum. Once they graduate, the majority lose all assistance and support. Tidy Tots hires, trains and supports these individuals with the assistance of Pine Ridge Industries. Most of Tidy Tots employees have barriers to employment and they all receive a living wage, as well support services when needed. Our mission is to demonstrate to other firms that our business model is a win win for everyone.
Has it been a smooth road?
We are a small family-owned business and as such do not have deep pockets. Our biggest challenge has been to break into a market where huge firms can out spend us for ads. In addition, we have to educate our customers how we can save them over $1,700 if they switch from disposals and plus how TT fixed all the issues with cloth diapers.
Tidy Tots®’ Solutions to Families’ Top Three Issues With Cloth Diapering:
Ick Free – Flushies® liners fasten securely around the hemp No-Fold Diaper so there is no shifting or bunching. Simply remove the liner and flush away the mess.
Rash Free – Organic hemp No-Fold Diapers and Boosters are naturally anti-microbial, meaning that no bacteria can grow. Flushies® liners are made of cornstarch, a natural remedy for diaper rash. Flushies permit the use of diaper rash creams when baby has a rash from a cold or is teething.
Leak Free – Patented cover features include water-resistant trim that prevents wicking. Deep gussets and flaps keep messes totally contained. Smart-Rise, the only one size self-fitting rise that ensures the perfect fit every day.
If a family switched from a disposable that they paid 35 cents for in two years, they would save $1,700 if they purchased our Great Start Set and used a Flushies® every time their baby was changed.
Our biggest challenge has come with COVID as it has dramatically changed the lives of all Americans and the world. Immediately Tidy Tots’ had to ensure our teams safety by redesigning the workplace floor plan to provide social distancing, disinfecting multiple times a day, and instituting several health checks daily. These changes provided a safe environment for our workers and allowed us to continue production of the essential diapers that were and still are in short supply. We feel deeply about saving lives by wearing masks. Tidy Tots has included in our mission the safety of all families with creating a line of masks for children two years old and up and adult sizes, which we are selling on our website. We have been donating masks to essential works, as well residents of nursing homes.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Disposable Diapers are one of our worst offenders of the environment. Did you know that 27.4 billion disposable diapers go into US landfills each year, and they take up to 500 years to biodegrade? Plus, they are contaminating our groundwater as dirty diapers are just tossed into the garbage where the solid waste is not treated. We are immensely proud we have developed a cloth diaper that our customers indicate “Tidy Tots thought of everything”.
We won in 2019 from Maternity and New Born “Best baby Product of the Year” award, vote was by their readers who were independent testers.
