Today we’d like to introduce you to Rossana Torchia.
Rossana, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in Venezuela, raised in a very Traditional, Italian family. I grew up cooking with my Nonna (grandmother). I came to the States when I was 17 years old and got a business and an accounting degree. While going to school I worked at a fine dining restaurant called the Fox Fire and that’s when I discovered my passion for this industry.
I moved to Florida, then back to Ohio and then again back to Florida where after about 15 years of restaurant experience I opened my own Gastropub. We specialize in Italian cuisine with all of my Nonna’s recipes. We have plays, live music, DJ’s, stand up comedy shows.
I wanted to give our customers a taste of what coming to my nonna’s house would have been like. So service is what we do.
Has it been a smooth road?
Opening your own restaurant is never smooth however we always made the best of it.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Definitely, knowing now the area, I would recommend for my type of business a city like Brickell or Wynwood.
