Meet MoneyBoy Ice

Today we’d like to introduce you to MoneyBoy Ice.

MoneyBoy Ice can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My birth name is Kamel Cameron. My stage name is MoneyBoy Ice. I was born & raised in Miami-Dade county. I love all sports but football is my favorite. I come from a Jamaican background. My whole family is from Jamaica. I grew up around the street/hood experiences & not having a father figure growing up, it shapes you to be a man at an early age…

So I grew up being mentally advanced among people my age. I played football middle school – high school. I was the starting qb in high school all four years & wr in 7th & 8th grade. When I was nine years old I recorded my first freestyle in my homie room & put it out on YouTube & I was telling my peers in elementary school to listen to me so I gained a lil fanbase & from that day of me telling them ima rapper & I make music, days later we’ll be in the lunchroom beating on the tables rapping having administration threatening us with detentions, referrals or no recess time. & then when I was in middle school, about 12-13 years old, I convinced my parents to buy me a studio setup in my bedroom & overtime learning how to record myself, mixing, & uploading music to SoundCloud I told myself this what I want to do & if I wanna do this I have to be committed for the long run, have to be able to take constructive criticism, deal with adversity & I stayed true to the grind, focused on the vision, noticed my progress over the years. I’m 18 years old now, I’m a soon-to-be graduate, & I’m currently signed to an independent label clearvision music group.

I signed with them in July 2019 & since then I was blessed to go on a 25+ city tour in the Midwest, I had the honor to meet some other artists, producers, songwriters, etc. in the music industry such as Vincent Berry, Kosign, & etc. I’ve had meetings within California with a&rs from different labels. I’ve been on fox 54 (Georgia, ATL) in an interview. One of my major influences is my mother because seeing her work 3-4 jobs everyday was kinda hard to accept. So falling in love with music & experiencing the hardwork my mother went thru & it made me want to do everything in the world to help her financially. Growing up, I remember seeing my mother only on her days off or at night when she comes home from working a 8am-11pm shift. & my aunt Christine was the one who raised me really. & my mom is really cool, she’s funny, she lights up the darkest rooms, but one thing she always wanted me to do is finish school, & find a career that I love & stay focused. & I just respect & desire her hardwork and sacrifices. & everything I do is for her & my grandma vioris. One thing that keeps me going whenever I feel discouraged is the day my grandmother told me before she passed was “I cant wait to see you on tv” & that’s a goal I have to achieve. I have to be a star! No matter what it takes, it has to get done!

One of most things that guided my life journey & career was growing up without my biological father, going through things alone, & seeing the way my mother had to work to keep things maintained on her own & it pushes me to do my best so that she won’t have to work & we can have a relaxed wealthy life. Another influence I had growing up is Tupac, Lil Wayne, Soulja Slim, Young Jeezy, Webbie, Boosie, & etc. hanging around my older cousins that’s all I was listening or hearing when I was a child. & hearing the different styles of music & from my personal experience, it help influenced my artistry & lyrics. My last influence is just being able to take my blessing from god & sharing it with others. I always wanted to help financially & give back those in need & to things that need change. Being able to change a life or to inspire one is what matters most to me & I want people to love me as a person not only as an artist.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the biggest things to happen to me is losing my grandma. 12-1-18. I think since she died, I experienced a good amount of life experiences. Both positive & negative. After she died months later, I got arrested & a couple of months after that I signed a deal with clearvision & then went on a tour, & the list follows. It’s like her death was the beginning of the falling dominos in a way.

Being in love with football & music I was always asked “which one do you love more” or “which one you see yourself doing in the long run” & living the best of both worlds, I lived most of my life choosing between music & football. & for a kid who is infatuated by those two things for a living it was a major obstacle & it took major sacrifices choosing between them. For example, Friday ill b booked for a performance but on Friday nights I had football games. I’ll have an interview or another event on a school/practice day & ill miss practice that day & I had coaches who understood me & my situation & we worked around it. Also, gaining support and true love from others in my city was a challenge because Miami just “crabs in a bucket” everybody wants to be better than the other but never will give a helping hand

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m MoneyBoy Ice an artist from Miami Dade county. My style of music is hiphop/trap. I’m very versatile, I write knowledgeable & message seeking music. I make music for the all ages. I rap about life experiences, current events of the world, love music, party music, the streets, struggles, heartbreaks, & etc. I’ve also made black conscious movement music & starred in series film called “freedom ain’t free” which is dropping very soon.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
More than luck, I’d like to credit God and people in my corner. I would first like to credit God for being there for me through the toughest times and showing me the things I can’t see and opening good doors and closing bad ones. Also would like to credit “Young CEO Al” my manager, he creates the future game plans, keeps the MBI Merch & Website Organized & he goes hard for me like I do for myself. He off my hip no matter what! Thankful to have somebody like him on my team.

Also would like to credit my big sister Lesa Miller, she represents me, she makes sure all paperwork is taken care of properly, payments are made correctly & in order. She has the best interest for me at heart and won’t ever steer me wrong. I would like to credit my mom & pops for investing into my career as much as they could. If I had half, they’ll give me the other half. If I was low, they’ll give me enough sometimes more than enough. And I’m blessed to have genuine caring parents like them. I would like to credit the bro’s “PVO THE GANG”. “No We Don’t GangBang, Its A Lifestyle”. The bro’s hold me to a higher standard, they won’t let me be involved in no foolishness, they all play their parts & kept it real since youngins.

Some of the bro’s have a role in the PVO LIFESTYLE, MBK RXCH -ARTIST. TRUE SOULJA – Artist. CGMT TREYY – Artist/Studio Engineer, Big Bud – Security & etc. Also would like to credit my Djs DjBankz & DjMani305 who show major love with my presence or not! They are essential to my career. Lastly, I would like to credit ClearVision Music Group. Since signing a contract with them, which is now up, I’ve gained a huge artist experience, my fan base has grown tremendously, it helped unbelievers or doubters turn into believers and supporters, I’ve been blessed to learn the business side of music that most artists don’t know and opening my mind to other types of business and side hustles.
