Meet Syana Mclean of Hair by Syana in Broward County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Syana Mclean.

Syana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hair wasn’t something I grew up doing it was more so a hidden talent I never knew I had. I always tell people I started hair on accident lol. One day a friend talked me into doing hair, at the time I was redhead and I was always making sure my bundles matched and trying different styles on my self. I started my page June 2016 and with one install I did on a close friend, I’ve been booked and busy. I’ve spent four years in high school in tv production learning marketing, branding and proper advertising I applied those skills to building my Instagram page. As some would say, I was an overnight successor. Today I am blessed to say I have an outstanding clientele as well as I’m also stepping into bridal hair and trying to establish a steady bridal clientele.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth? Oh Lord no, lol my mom always told me “nothing good or long-lasting comes easy”. Social media can bring out the worst in people and can be discouraging when you are first starting out. Some struggles for me were my reactions to those nasty comments I was 19 at the time when I started, I am now 25 so with age come wisdom not everything needs a response and it’s not what you say it’s how you say it. If I intended on keeping my on top status, I had to relax and think before reacting.

Hair by Syana – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is HairbySyana. I specialize in sewins, quick weaves and ponytails. I’m known for a few things from my signature bridal waves to my sleek pretty girl ponytails as well as my flawless foundations and seamless installs. As a company, I’ve not only been able to keep and build clientele but My company has given so many woman peace and happiness I’m not just a stylist I’m sometimes a mom, therapist and friend and sometimes even a prenatal doctor to my expecting clients as I am a mom. I have so many different women sit in my chair and I’m so proud to give them that empowerment and confidence when they get out of my chair. What sets me apart I can give a good example I’m all into healthy ways of doing hair while giving a super bomb style my ponytails are untouchable I revamped such a simple thing into “pretty girls ponytails” they last two weeks without any form of gel or got 2b spray or edge control. It’s deeper than making money I enjoy this I spend my off time continuing education and finding ways to better myself and my company as well as offer learning opportunities for others with classes and one on ones.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is happiness as long as I am happy in what I am doing and it brings me nothing but joy I am successful. I love what I do, I never feel like I am working it’s always something new whether it’s a style or client. I love the unexpected. Not many can say they love what they do.
