Meet Henri Da Silva of The Henri Salon in Windwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Henri Da Silva.

Henri, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, born in 1977. My father owned a few hair Salons and Barber Shops in Rio, and I used to go everyday after school to help him clean the floors and wait on costumers. He introduced me to the profession that would one day became my passion: hair styling. Since my 12-13 years of age, I have been cutting and styling hair. I remember that people in the neighborhood heard about me, a young boy that cut hair, and they would line up to wait to be able to cut their hair with me. And that was the beginning of this wonderful journey pursuing my dreams. As time went on, I was invited to work at the largest hair Salon chain in Rio in 1994. I was 17 years old. I was going to school and working. I worked at Walter’s Coiffeur for 12 years.

I developed to be a master in coloring and balayage and started receiving awards from Loreal. In the following years, I studied at Pivot Point Techniques, Toni & Guy Academy in Brasil and Llongueras Academy in Buenos Aires. I also went on international specializations in London, Barcelona, as well in New York and California. In 2008, I moved to Miami, FL and started working at Jean Claude Biguine in Coral Gables, and while working there, I had the opportunity to become a partner owner at Europa Hair Studio also in Coral Gables. In 2018 I founded The Henri Salon. It is a sophisticated space inside an Art Gallery. The road hasn’t been always easy, but it has surely been fulfilling and also a beautiful learning process. We are forever students in this life. In the near future, I plan to have The Henri Hair Academy to teach develop new techniques.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smith road. There several obstacles and hard times. When I started working at the salon and also studying as a teen, it was a 2-hour bus ride each way to go to work. Also, moving to another country and starting over was challenging.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
