Meet Elizabeth Adriana Colazo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Adriana Colazo.

Elizabeth, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Elizabeth Colazo. I was born in Jesús María, Córdoba, Argentina. There I studied, in college for a degree in kindergarten teaching. Although it was a good job, it was not according to my essence, and I left shortly before receiving the degree. I discovered my love for art at age 17 when I started attending drawing and painting classes at an Atelier, with a fine arts teacher.

I also attended a painting workshop where I dabbled in various techniques and areas of art, using decorative acrylic paint on different bases: wood, ceramic, metal and fabric. During this time, I started a business with a friend, painting on fabric, customizing baby clothes and painting on all the accessories that we could put color and design on. With the arrival of my daughters the time I dedicated to my paintings decreased, but for me, a stage of deep internal growth began, investigating topics such as metaphysics, self-help, and learning healing techniques such as reiki, reading Akashic records, Flower therapy, Crystals, etc. Today I work as a Flower therapist for the Bach system – (emotional healing technique, based on flower essences, belongs to natural medicine, discovered by Dr. Bach in 1926 and 1934, which was a great researcher, doctor, and Homeopath).

Later, I returned to painting, attending several years of classes with a well-known Professor of Fine Arts at the Jesús María Jesuit Museum. During this time, I dedicated myself completely to learning the use of Oil painting techniques. I also participated in several annual exhibitions at this museum and in an individual exhibition at the Biondi City Museum. During my last year living in Argentina, I did a mini-entrepreneurship where I designed pillows for breastfeeding, combining fabrics and personalized painting, as well as designing cosmetic holders, bags, etc.

My artistic activities in Argentina concluded with my emigration to the United States, settling this way in Miami, Florida, with my family in 2017. We opened a Gelato store and I dedicated myself to decorating the entire business with my artwork work, other stores in this franchise also have some of my works. Although my art in Miami is not yet known, I was contacted by an Art Gallery in Barcelona, Spain, called Galeria Carey. I signed a contract with them. Therefore I have several works in Spain, thus entering the European market. I have already participated in events and I will be participating in two fashion and art events soon.

Thus reaching my best moment with the expression of my art, I make figurative art, where what stands out most in my works is color, thus expressing emotions, spirituality, states of the soul, and moments of daily life… I like to incorporate the human figure, flowers, and boats… although this can vary according to what I’m transiting internally. In my works, what prevails the most is my spiritual work, what I am working within, which for me is very important since as humans we come to this plane to evolve. My wish is that people can feel in my works beautiful sensations, that connect them with the beauty of life, love, and peace. I think we need a world connected more to the soul, to the significant, and the simple and the true.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
To get to where I am today there were many obstacles. The road was not smooth at all, many times, I had to stop painting and dedicate myself to other tasks that had nothing to do with me, in order to improve financially. This was another of the great obstacles I had to surpass along with fears, uncertainties, and many emotional states, but I still believe that everything is part of the journey, of the path that I had to travel to grow internally as a person.

We’d love to hear more about your art.
This way, I believe that we are all different and that if we are faithful to our essence, we have something unique to contribute to the world. I am faithful to my essence and therefore, I think that already makes me different from the rest.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is to do what you are passionate about and live from it.
