Today we’d like to introduce you to Calvin Azadi.
Calvin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I graduated with a Business Management Degree from FSU and worked as the Sales Manager of LEASA for a year before attending law school at UM. While in law school, I worked for Mena Law Firm and Brad Sohn Law and clerked for the honorable Judge Sarah Zabel while she was at the 11th Judicial Circuit Court in downtown Miami. Upon graduating from UM Law and passing the Florida Bar, I decided to accept a job at the Immigration Law Offices of Robert Sheldon because I was interested in Business Immigration. My parents were Immigrants from Iran who came here to study at UM and are now living the American Dream. At Robert Sheldon’s Coral Gables office, I found my passion because I was able to put my business knowledge and experience to use while helping foreign business owners and professionals work and live in the U.S. and pursue their American Dream. While working there, I realized that foreign entrepreneurs coming to the U.S. needed more than just an investor visa.
My clients would constantly ask me to help them with their Business, Property, and Tax law needs, but I was unable to in my current role. As a result, I partnered up with a colleague from UM Law and we formed Azadi & Fundora Law which was located on Bird Road. It was a good experience but after a year, I realized that Bird Road was not the right area for me, so at the age of 29, I opened my own firm in WeWork’s Brickell City Centre location. That was a bold decision and it was met with a lot of skepticism but it was the best choice that I ever made. After opening Azadi Law, I hired the best paralegal from an office that I used to work for and I decided that the two of us would provide a level of customer service and attention that would separate us. We quickly grew because our clients were very happy with our services and referred us to all of their family, friends, and colleagues. As demand grew, I hired more paralegals and law students and began working with other attorneys in order to expand my practice areas to include Intellectual Property, Family Law, and Estate Planning.
Most people dread the thought of hiring an attorney, but my office makes the legal experience a pleasurable one by making it easy to communicate with us and charging flat, fixed-rate fees. We are available via WhatsApp, Text Messaging, Email, and Phone as well as in-person and we guarantee a response from an attorney within 24 hours of any inquiry. We only charge flat, fixed-rate fees, which allows potential clients to know exactly how much our services will cost them before they decide to retain us. I truly love my job because I’m providing my clients with the type of service that I would want if I were in their shoes.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Before opening my own firm at the age of 29, I discussed my idea with mentors, former bosses, and colleagues and they were skeptical that I would succeed. Most of them thought it would be difficult for me to obtain clients, especially in Brickell/Downtown Miami, where all the city’s biggest and most well-known law firms are. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous but I believed that I just needed a chance because once someone had the experience of working with me, they would refer their family, friends, and colleagues. I think the best decision that I made was renting an office at WeWork’s Brickell City Centre location, where I am still located two years later, albeit in a bigger office space within the same building.
WW’s BCC setting was the perfect place for a young ambitious attorney like myself because I was surrounded by a network of young ambitious entrepreneurs, many of them being foreigners or being interested in hiring foreign professionals. The first couple of months were tough but one client became two and within 90 days after opening, I had enough work to hire a paralegal to help me. I was lucky enough to be able to convince the best paralegal that I worked with at a previous firm, to leave her job and join me. Since then, my firm has grown beyond my wildest dreams, but I could not have made the progress that I have without the help of my family, friends, my clients, and the people that work with me.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a member of the Florida Bar and admitted to practice state law in Florida and federal law throughout the United States of America. My practice is dedicated to providing legal solutions for businesses, investors, and immigrants. I am also a Florida-licensed Real Estate Agent, which allows me to help my clients buy, sell, or lease residential and commercial property throughout the state.
I represent all types of clients throughout South Florida, across the U.S., and abroad. My real-world business experience enables me to provide practical legal advice for businesses. My immigration law practice is focused on helping foreign and U.S. Businesses, Investors, and Skilled Professionals. Since 2015, I have successfully helped my clients obtain U.S. Visas, Residency, and Citizenship. I’m fluent in English, Spanish, and Farsi (Persian).
I have had a lot of success in getting visas and residency for businesses, investors, and skilled professionals. These visas include: E-2, L-1, O-1, EB-1, EB-2, EB-3, P-1, H-1B(1), and TN. I also have done Marriage Petitions, Citizenships, and Asylums. I have written demand and cease and desist letters for small businesses, helped small business owners register their company’s trademark, copyright, and patent, and prepared purchase and sale agreements for company, asset, and domain name transfers. I have helped landowners and tenants with property deals and disputes by writing or reviewing their lease or purchase and sale agreement and the applicable law. I have also helped landowners rent a piece of their property to a billboard company.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has definitely played a role in my success. Since then, my firm has grown beyond my wildest dreams but I could not have made the progress that I have without the help of my family, friends, my clients, and the people that work with me.
My mother, father, and wife have been very helpful throughout my career and supported me through my transitions from one job to another. I am fortunate to have several great mentors but three of them deserve special mention, Louis F. Robbio, Esq., Javier Montano-Miranda, Esq., and Raquel L. White, Esq. I am also very lucky to work with several great attorneys but three of them deserve special mention, Irina Roth, Esq., Anthony Lanza, Esq., and Ewin Aponte, Esq.
