Meet Allan Uviedo Mireles of Tennis Virtual

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allan Uviedo Mireles.

Allan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am Venezuelan, from San Fernando de Apure, a state in which few people play tennis. My mother is Aleida Mireles and my father’s name is Castor Uviedo. I learned to play tennis with Angel Brito, the only tennis coach there and I did it just for fun. One day, while studying at the university, Angel Brito convinced me to take a tennis coach course to help him in my spare time to teach. I did so and helped him for about three or four years. Then I finished college, I am a lawyer specializing in criminal matters. In 2010 I moved to Valencia, Carabobo state, to work as a Public Defender in Criminal Matters.

In 2014, I had to defend a person who the Venezuelan government accused of having killed a National Guard in the 2014 protests, which was not true. When we had a year in the trial and his departure from prison was imminent, one-armed groups began to threaten me and my family to death, so we decided to come to the United States and request political asylum. We arrived in December 2015, with two suitcases and all the desire to move on. I started working making food deliveries in Miami Beach but always keeping in mind tennis. One day I took a pizza to a tennis academy and asked to work as a coach, but they told me that the site was not hiring at that time and they gave me the card of a tennis teacher who was always looking for people to help him with his classes. That’s how I met Maximo Angeli, who offered me a job as a tennis coach.

In 2017 I founded the Instagram account @tennis_virtual to place girls’ tennis players that nobody showed on Instagram and after three years, I decided to open my own company and work on my own. My company is called Tennis Virtual LLC, and we continue to grow every day, with tennis lessons and events such as last February 13, where we organized for Robin Söderling former world number 4, an event with influencers tennis players for some pictures of his brand of tennis balls and implements. That is part of my story and I thank God and you for reading it.

Has it been a smooth road?
My biggest challenge was to come to another country and leave my whole life in Venezuela.
