Montrel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hello my name is MONTREL ARTISTRY and I started with makeup about three years ago in the year of 2016 going to 2017 I started my make up in a dance magnet program in high school my 11th-grade year, through there I saw that I can make money I would charge the girls $10 each face and from that, I saw how much money I made just in one night. After high school that’s when everything took off. From fashion shows, Photoshoots, and more.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No it has not been a smooth road and that’s fine. Recently in the fall, I experienced where my clientele had dropped completely. And I had to come to the realization that my pieces were too high and I was going makeup from home.

I’m a Black/Hispanic Male in the Makeup Industry. My brand Montrel Artistry was given to me by God himself once I gave my life over to Jesus. Ever since then, my brand went from just a business to a ministry as well. God made my logo through a dream that he gave a female minister at another aside of mines. And it was exactly how I wanted it to look I didn’t even have to tell her.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
God deserves the credit; first I couldn’t do it without him and secondly my family that supported me and also past teachers and friends. God plays the role of turning it into a ministry, and my family and friends play the role as my cheerleaders, they have sharp invested in my brand as well.
