Today we’d like to introduce you to Rahul Mahajan.
Born in Detroit to Indian parents, Rah was interested in art from a young age. He was quickly put into all advance art classes for his skills in drawing and painting. He originally wanted to be an actor and went to many summer acting camps. And also started wringing poems and wraps at the age of 13. By the time 17 came along, he had gold medals in drawing and he started recording music in his friend’s studios. Rah went on to graduate high school and attend the University of Michigan art program but left after one year to move to Los Angeles, California and attend FIDM (fashion institute).
In California, Rah went head-on into recording music – realizing this was his main passion. He is also very entrepreneurial-minded and is now starting his own record label, has his own clothing brand, and is creating a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the environment. He is inspired by all things in life from women to overcoming obstacles and failures to traveling the world. Rah recently went on a European tour with Bad Boy producer Tony Dofat and performed in 15 cities across Europe and Israel. He has racked up over 160k views on his latest music video “Call” on YouTube and has more than half a million plays on SoundCloud. Rah is destined to be the next big thing in music and in shaping, advancing culture as a whole!
We’d love to hear more about your work. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I create music, fashion, paintings, movies, and graphic arts. Everything is geared to the message of being Great! And what it means to me to be Great. My definition of great includes being good to others and uplifting people around us, being trustworthy and being extremely genuine, sharing a positive spirit full of love and motivation. I am strong in spirit to fight the good fight against those with evil intentions. I’m very much for the people and want to include the whole world in my audience and family of influence.
How can artists connect with other artists?
I don’t think being an artist is lonely at all. I collaborate often. Especially living in LA, there are thousands of artists with like minds to bounce ideas off of. Also, when I was on tour, I was able to connect with so many people from different cultures and languages all through the universal language of music. Music makes people happy and I want to be part of that! I would say for advice: don’t be shy, get out of your comfort zone and mix with the world around you!
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I have an album “Cozy Season” on all streaming platforms – Spotify, Apple Music, tidal, etc. Just type in “Rahtwofive,” and all my music will pop up. I also have two more mixtapes on my SoundCloud.
