Meet Carlos Urdaneta Mezerhane of Next Level Mentoring in Palm Beach County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Urdaneta Mezerhane.

Carlos, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
A variety of things inspired Next Level. From our experiences, we know that the middle school transition is the first major transition that kids have and it’s imperative to have quality mentorship and guidance during this time. We want to act as older brothers of sorts. Many kids need someone to confide in and look for advice when they are faced with adversity. Because of how close we are in age, we are not too far separated from some of the same situations that they endure now. We guide them through decisions using our wisdom and lessons we learned from our experiences. We strive to guide these traits that don’t have a guiding hand so that they can have better opportunities.

The overall goal of this program is to lead young men through a very confusing and challenging transition in their lives. We strive to teach them the ‘soft’ skills and knowledge that will help them get ahead in life, prosper, and be happy. With the development and implementation of these skills in their daily lives, we believe that this is what will put them a step ahead of their counterparts and truly shine. We strive to mentor these young men so that they can get on the right path towards their goals. We specialize in a game plan for each and every student and show them how to go about in tackling this game plan so that they can reach their goals, and then continue using this knowledge for future circumstances on their own.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We had to do a lot of due diligence before creating the Next Level. We started the planning phase months before our first event and held dozens of meetings before starting. We had to first form our team, in which we had to interview a prospect until we found the perfect team. Then, we had to write down all of the curriculum for every single day to make sure that we had quality information being taught. After that, we had to meet with other organizations to gain their support and find a facility. This was followed by all of the legal parts, such as drawing up contracts, and then finally, marketing our event to the public. We had to intensively look for new clients as we were a new organization and didn’t have a reputation for our first event, which we struggled with getting people to trust us. Still, eventually, we were able to accomplish that.

We’d love to hear more about your organization.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My favorite childhood memory is/was gathering with my whole family for events such as dinners or lunches, going with my dad to ride motorcycles, looking at cars and boats with my grandfather, and simply just having a good time with my family.
