Today we’d like to introduce you to Fabio Moretti and Mikel Manfredini.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Fabio and Mikel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Contesta Rock Hair is an Italian brand with a rock soul, created in 1996 in Rome. Our dream was to create and invent around a singular hair -cut technique a business reality based on an extended network of contacts and create human resource management, trough the years we open several new locations in Rome.
Florence, New York, Miami and Shanghai, in Miami we open doors on summer 1999, our primal location in the USA, what we consider our base, was Espanola way, the salon looked a lot different from other places on the beach, we wanted to have an industrial look, but always care about details, South Beach was booming, so many beautiful people walked to our place.
Being in south beach back in those days was everything, we started to collaborate with the best promoters in town, organized tons of happy hours, event, parties and collaboration with the best night clubs in the community, so many beautiful memories, we had the pleasure to work with the best stylists in the area, and we built an amazing amount of clients, for more than 12 years ours hours of operations were from 1 pm to 10 pm, South Beach was a late-night place, we offered drinks and always have the best music, this is was made in the most organic innocent way, and at the end, we wanted to have fun, be artistic and meet as many people as possible, always close attention to fashion, street-life and mostly Art, we had more than 100 art openings during the time in Espanola way, hosting from the street artists to the recognize national artists, we melted all the things we loved to do Art. Fashion and music.
In January 2020 after 20 years in EspanolaWAY our growth continues to bring us closer to the people who have contributed countless years of support as well, into the captivating and conceptual neighbors salon in Upper Buena Vista salon.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In 20 years doing business it can be a roller coaster, we had our ups and downs, maybe last year was the hardest, cause we wanted to continue working on South Beach, but unfortunately, we lost most of the community, losing the nightlife in the south beach it was little hard to digest.
Contesta Rock Hair – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Passion and dedication to our work, the transparency of our aims and the enthusiasm for experimentation are the strength of our underground style; we share a mutual project, the intent is to build up a space with boundaries, whether geographic or any form of artistic expression. We are most proud of the fact we are very good friends. We love each other; what I think sets us apart from the others is the fact we are simple, unique, genuine people, no attitude, just be yourself.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Springtime, playing soccer in the street of Rome with my friends.
