Having my own TV Production company it’s been always a dream of mine, so when I moved to Miami and had to start my career from scratch, I thought it was the right time to do it. I knew it was a big challenge and it would not be easy, because I did not know well the market but, little by little, with patience, dedication and enthusiasm, that dream came true. My experience told me that you have to trust your guts.
I’ve worked for more than 20 years in Spain, my country, in top TV channels & production companies as a journalist, TV presenter and executive producer. I loved my job but at some point, I felt that I wanted to continue growing professionally and explore new horizons.
So, why Miami? A close friend of mine, who I worked within Spain as well, moved here a year before and encourage me to come here. The summer of 2014, I’ve packed my bags and spent a wonderful week here in Miami. Thanks to some good friends I get to know a lot of people from the Media industry, visited a lot of Televisions and, to my biggest surprise, I met my current husband. A year and half later, I’ve moved for good to Miami, leaving all behind and ready to start a new chapter. Just four months after that, I launched my company Lemon Media. The name of the company honors my mother’s last name: ‘Limón’ (Lemon), and also because, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!”.
In a second phase, the most important thing was to build a good networking. This is by far the hardest part as the ‘new kid in town’ and where I’ve spent most of my energy and time. I did not miss any industry event, an opportunity to meet potential partners and clients. This is key for success, along with your background experience.
While I was planting the seeds of ‘Lemon’, I was working as a journalist, correspondent for Spanish TVs and hosting collaborations in television programs, until one day the telephone rang requesting the first work for Lemon Media. It was very exciting!
I recruited the best people to get this first job succeed: camera operators, lightings, editors and the result was magnificent. Step by step, Lemon Media began to create its own portfolio. As work grows, I’ve decided to invest in technology, so production could be more profitable and I’ve built a professional team to complement my experience. Create your own company it’s not an easy ride, but having your goals clear and putting a lot of passion, one day, everything starts to roll.
I will tell you anecdotally, that my other entrepreneurial aspect has to do with a childhood passion for acting. When I arrived here, I discovered Microtheater at the Spanish Cultural Center. I’ve partner with a screenwriter friend to write a play and it was selected to be performed. It was wonderful because I debuted as an actress and Lemon Media manages the production. Since then, I have performed in several theater plays and have appeared in some television series, as well as Lemon Media has produced more plays from Microtheater.
I’m very grateful for all opportunities Miami is bringing to growth personal & professionally. Could the stars be more aligned?
Has it been a smooth road?
]The road is not easy, specially, when you are reinventing yourself in a foreign country where, despite your previous years of experience, nobody knows you. Another barrier when I arrived was the language because I spoke conversational English, but I had to study to become fluent professionally.
In addition, the television industry here is very competitive, the dynamics are different from Europe, so I had to learn the new rules of the game in law, finance, insurance, etc., it also takes time.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I have an extrovert and cheerful personality and I’ m a very positive woman, which I think has helped me to reach my goals. I am very disciplined, tenacious, hardworking and try to learn from the people around me. Believe in myself and my full potential; living with enthusiasm and honesty it’s been key to accomplished my biggest achievements in life, both personal and professional.
