Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefany Allongo.
Stefany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a born and raised West Palm Beacher – we are few and far between – and a proud alumnus of Dreyfoos School of the Arts, University of Miami (BA), and Clemson University (MBA/MS).
I started my career 13 years ago working with the event planning teams of the 2007 Tony Awards and the RunDisney 2008-2009 race season. During that time, I learned a lot about what it took to plan and execute an amazing event. In 2009, I branched out on my own by launching my own wedding planning company.
It was fun assisting couples create their dream weddings, but I yearned for an online resource that focused on the Palm Beach area wedding market. It was something that was truly lacking since the available resources lumped the Palm Beaches into the greater South Florida market to the detriment of those couples and local vendors.
After much deliberation, I decided to launch MarriedinPalmBeach.com – the only online wedding resource solely dedicated to the Palm Beaches!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I started my wedding planning company at the height of the recession out of necessity. No one was hiring! Therefore, I created an opportunity for myself. It was an extremely stressful time with a lot of on the job learning (I had never run a business before!), but it was absolutely worth it. That experience made me the resilient and flexible business owner I am today.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Married in Palm Beach – what should we know?
Married in Palm Beach is the only online wedding planning resource solely dedicated to weddings in the Palm Beaches. We focus on providing unique and useful content geared to local and destination couples wanting to get married in Palm Beach County, including our free Wedding Planning Guide.
The site is optimized for Palm Beach specific wedding searches, garnering over 6,000 views per month. We also strive to have the most comprehensive list of wedding vendors local to the Palm Beaches. MIPB is helping couples plan amazing weddings by connecting them with our wonderful, local wedding vendors.
I am so proud that we co-hosting our very first wedding expo on January 26 – Love Under the Palms! This show offered an intimate opportunity for couples meet the most exclusive wedding vendors in the Palm Beaches. Guests enjoyed delicious bubbly and decadent bites while filling out their Passport to Paradise for a chance to win amazing raffle prizes! The first 150 couples to arrive walked away with swag bags full of goodies. It was a must for any engaged couple and we are excited to start planning next year’s event!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My husband and family have been my biggest supporters! They encouraged me to start my wedding planning company in 2009 and advocated that I switch focuses to Married in Palm Beach in 2017. I couldn’t have done any of this without their love and support.
Also, big thanks has to go out to Angela and Greg Quigley of Married in Milwaukee. They have been amazing mentors! From teaching me the ins and outs of owning a wedding website to brainstorming article ideas, they have been constant cheerleaders with every goal accomplished.
