Meet Tyiesha and Jimmy Museau of Hair Chemistry Miami in North Miami Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyiesha and Jimmy Museau.

Jimmy & Tyiesha Museau are not the average hair & makeup duo. We are a husband and wife beauty, hair styling & makeup tandem who travel worldwide for our clients. After starting our business on just $100 six years ago, our client list has now grown to include celebrities, models, and brides.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
People always ask why did you and your husband decide to go into business together. We both had different plans for our future, and definitely this wasn’t it. My career path was to take over my grandmother’s living facility and become a nurse because by nature I have a nurturing spirit to care for others. My husband career path was to own an optical and become a licensed optician designing luxury frames. So you see we never planned to be these super talented beauty professionals. But I always had a passion for doing hair as a young girl and would always experiment on friends and family. I started doing ponytails, then upgraded to quick weaves. Entering high school my life went downhill, I lost my grandmother who was my legal Guardian because my mother died when I was three years.

So my grandmother is who I knew as my momma, so things got super ruff for me finically, my living arrangement and mentally I was lost. I started jumping from house to house living with friends and different family members, still going to school. Doing hair became a distraction for me when I couldn’t stop thinking about all the negative things happening in my life, but still didn’t see it as a career. After leaving high school my boyfriend Jimmy (now husband) always encouraged me to start a hair business, but to be honest I was discourage with life. Until one day jimmy said here is a $100 dollars, your super talented and you should start a business. At that point, I knew he believed in me, I went to Marshall’s and bought a flat iron, blow dryer, etc.. He became the marketing and business manager and I was the stylist of course. He taught me how to be business savvy and how to be more involved with marketing myself. So we came up with the idea of traveling to our client to give a celebrity experience, mind you we never done a celebrity but we seen movies of how they are treated. Business started off super slow but we didn’t get discouraged.

To become better at my craft, I attended cosmetology school and took classes with local stylists. We then felt like our business was missing something that would make us even more reputable. We wanted to become a duo, So we added makeup. Jimmy can paint and draw, so he started taking makeup classes and at first it was hard learning all the techniques of blending, but he never gave up. Long story short, we ended up growing and learning together. We never looked down on each other, we always build each other up. We started getting popular on IG and managers from big networks started reaching out to us. We looked over every offer before excepting any jobs and never did any gigs that we felt wasn’t right for us. We have worked for BET, VH1, ROLLING LOUD and other networks. Traveling to people started getting tuff for us so we decided to open up our first studio and only offered traveling to Our brides on the days of their weddings. We love what we do and we are super thankful for how we are continuing to grow.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Currently, our company is known for Bridal styling and bridal makeup. We love doing weddings because we are able to meet and be apart of the happiest day of a women’s life. With our viral post on Instagram, we are able to inspire stylists and connect with other entrepreneurs.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I have always been a very shy and timid little girl. Love being around my family and my two sisters. Love writing rap music with my aunt who passed away, she truly inspired me to be the strong woman I’m today. Like I said before, always had a passion for doing hair as a young girl and would always experiment on friends and family. Also cheered, ran track & was in chorus.
