Meet Kriss Hidalgo of Lions-Studios in South Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kriss Hidalgo.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always was interested into fine art and culture as a child growing up. As the popularity of hip-hop music began to rise around 2012-2013. I began heavily to begin my interest into fashion. With favorite artists of mine wearing fashion pieces that made them stand out. During that time, I heavily looked up to A$AP Rocky, with his outlandish outfits. That heavily stood out and began inspired from it.

As continued to mature and began a style for myself. I decided to begin taking an artistic direction, for my outfits and photos, around 2016, I began to start taking pictures on Instagram with photographers and really began falling in love with the creativity of the photoshoots. As I began to make a name for myself around high school for the flashy outfits, I decided I could begin using my background in visual art, and begin designing clothes. This is when I launched LIONS-Studios. Lavish Inspires Our Normal Society (LIONS). A fashion house inspired on cultivating emotions through fashion and design. I chose the acronym LIONS for the fashion house because of the feeling I wanted to create within individuals, wanted to instill a confidence within people. So, I chose an animal that is heavily known to be a very confident and respected animal. Slowly everyone across other schools began to pick up on the narrative and the direction I was heading towards. And slowly began to mature as an artistic director.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has never been a smooth road, obstacles that came along the way, are friendships that began to drift away. The stress that came along the way of going to school and trying to make a name as an artistic director. But most importantly my age, many people didn’t take my work as serious, because of my young age, as trying to start a fashion house at the age of 16, so I wasn’t able to really take things seriously until I graduated high school. And went off to college and really begin on appointing an executive board, and also hiring 6 Design Team members.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lions-Studios – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I founded LIONS-Studios on May 10, 2017. And I have always took the role as founder and artistic director. From starting out, I took care of all the financials, company back end duties, website creation, marketing, designer, and resources. Up until, recently of late 2019, I have been given a privilege to really learn the importance of growing a team, so I have appointed Executive Board members, who take care of Risk Management, Financials and Legal activity, and Marketing. I take care of the role as Artistic Director and solely focus on taking care of the artistic direction of LIONS-Studios. And also lead a team of 6 Design Team members.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like best about Miami, is growing up in Palm Beach, and recently spending time in Miami Beach, is the appreciation for fine art, creativity, and fashion. Miami has a way better appreciation and opportunities for creatives. My favorite time of the year is Art Basel weekend, and the ability to really talk to people from all over the world, who have an appreciation for art. I dislike about the city, is the lacking acknowledgment from fashion dominated cities as New York, Paris, Milan, etc. That still do not see the future for Miami as it grows. And I really want to take part as a pioneer in putting Miami, on the globe. After the Dior show that took place in Miami, I thank Kim Jones for not only letting be apart of the vision as a model. But also the opportunity it just provided for Miami, as the Dior and Shawn Stussy Collaboration, was Dior’s first fashion show in America, it really provided a historical factor for Miami in the fashion Industry.
