Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario Serrano.
Mario, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am from Tucuman – Argentina, I came to the USA in 1993. I started my company about five years ago. At the same time I was working at different hotels mainly the Hyatt Pier Sixty Six Hotel, Loews Hotel Miami Beach, The Diplomat Beach Resort Hotel. I’ve been a chef for many years in the hotel industry and always had the dream to own my own business.
Has it been a smooth road?
The struggle has mainly been getting people to know me and my product. After that is was easier because it went mouth to mouth recommendations.
Tell us about your work.
I specialize in different stuffings (flavors) of empanadas. In my country we love to have empanadas on a daily basis, especially on week-ends, with a glass of wine. I am most proud of the flavor of my product. The fresh ingredients I use sets me apart from others.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The many different ethnic groups. There is nothing not to like. I think Miami is a good place to be, good people and good experiences.
