Today we’d like to introduce you to Stella Pinheiro.
Stella, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up I was always into the “beauty industry” I always loved doing hair and makeup since I was young. I remember in the summer when I was young I would spend most of my summers in Brazil. I had two aunts that were beauticians. I would spend a lot of time with them at the salon and I was always fascinated with it. I became a hairdresser when I was 18 and only worked for a few years before I got pregnant with my son. I was fortunate enough to take some time off to spend time at home with my son. I got back into hairdressing a few years later as a means to provide for me and my son. I think that once I got back into hairdressing is when I found a new love for the job. I then started to build up my clientele and later got into makeup. Through the years I’ve gotten to work with some cool people and special clients. And now I have gotten to learn the ins and outs of the beauty world. They say “Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life”. I can say that I play all day long.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say the biggest struggle I had was getting back into the business again after a few years taking off from being a stay at home mom.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m a hairstylist at The VIP Salon and I specialize in Color, Cut, Extensions and I also do makeup. I would say the biggest thing that I am proud of as a company is how talented every stylist is and also how we all learn, grow and inspire each other to become better at our craft every day.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was always extremely outgoing and I always loved to be the center of attention. I loved playing dress up & playing with makeup. I would always play Salon and do my friend’s hair. I always knew that I would do something in the beauty industry.
