Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Pelati.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Maria. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We were working both in a restaurant in Miami Beach that’s where we met and became best friends. I am from Argentina with Italian descent and my friend is. French with a Moroccan background. As we were working long hours, my friend as a manager and myself doing deliveries, we decided to open a restaurant. We started with some savings and by working hard, doing up to 14 hours daily. With a little experience, in business, we learned daily by our mistakes. Throughout the years we grew up working hard, word to mouth, working with local people, and serving delicious healthy food that my French friend created. She learned cooking with her mom and worked in a few restaurants in Miami. We learned how to grow through our experiences.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It wasn’t an easy road, we learned to negotiate with providers, to promote do marketing without experience, managing employees and money. Also, we started in a tough neighborhood in 2008, where we had to close our business earlier. We really learned everything about business in a tough way.
Please tell us about business.
We are a small restaurant that serves vegetarian, vegan and carnivore food. We specialize in gourmet paninis and we serve plenty of other dishes. Our goal is to provide delicious homemade food to an array of people. The chef makes sure that all our dishes are tasty and delicious. Definitely proud to serve our community and achieved 12 years in the restaurant business. Our customers are like family, each one is important, we have regulars for all these years.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Just being able to not give up in the toughest moments.
