Meet David Daudin of MYTO Studios in Orlando, FL

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Daudin.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My background is in marketing. I studied Marketing and International Business at Oklahoma State university and earned a Bachelors degree from there. When I finished, I worked for a company selling u-verse as an entry level position. Hated the job. Wanted to get into advertising, but more focused on the visual side. Film school was always a thought and Full Sail had been on my radar for a few years. I knew I couldn’t afford the $80,000 tuition. One day I decided to move to Orlando and see if I could eventually go there. After about 3 weeks in Orlando, I went to see an advisor at Full Sail, inquiring about requirements. Lucky for me, they were starting a Masters’ program in Film, which was close to 1/3 of the cost of the Bachelor’s program, so I enrolled. After a year, I earned my masters and started a production company right away. The Masters’ program focused more on the above the line positions, such as, directing, producing, screen writing, distribution, law etc. Because I understood the producing side of things, I was able to put a production team together right out of school. Only problem is, I didn’t run it like a business, it was more like friends working together creating cool things. First 2 years were tough, I didn’t make much profit and could barely live off of it. Wasn’t until 2016 that things started changing for me. I restructured my company and focused a lot more on the back-end than the production side. I learned how to properly write up contracts, invoices and build relationships. I put in close to 50 hours a week every week. I treated it like a corporate job. Overtime, more opportunities opened up and I built a reputation for quality work. Fast forward to 2019, I now own my own studio and working on building a team to help me create even more magic.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Was not a smooth road at all. It was a very tough road. Almost quit a few times.

MYTO Studios – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company is a Media Production Company. We specialize in branding + marketing + production. We create commercials, cover events, help with designs, social media and help people and companies look good. Unlike most production company, we focus a lot on making our brand a brand that people want to be affiliated with, even when they don’t need our services.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I see success as freedom. I think that when you reach a point in life where you’re free to make decisions based on strictly what you truly want and not based on life restrictions, you’ve reached a level off success. It’s easy to think that money is success, but the truth is, when you always have to be somewhere that you don’t want to be or talk to people that you don’t want to talk to or do things that you don’t want to do, it doesn’t matter how much you’re making, you’re not happy.

  • We work around budgets. There are so many layers to production, that we honestly cannot have fit all packages.
