Meet Desiree Tizon of Dezi Does It in Weston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Tizon.

Desiree, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I moved to Miami in 2010, where I attended college at FIU for Communications. I knew I had always wanted to be in Marketing, but in 2013 I graduated and couldn’t land a job in the field.

Fast forward to 2015, I landed a job at an amazing software development company in Weston, Florida, Ultimate Software, but I still wasn’t in the marketing space. I decided to create DeziDoesIt.com as a means to increase my marketing skills while sharing details of my life from health, wellness, travel and more. My unique story of being born with one kidney and two uterus had always been a topic for discussion, so I created my website and YouTube channel, and began to share my authentic story. Not only was this a way to build my online community, but I was learning ways to improve my social media marketing skills, video and photo editing, all things that would later land me the position I’m in now.

I’m still at that same company (about to make 4 years), and my online community has continued to grow. Aside from being a Social Media Specialist at work, I am also a Lifestyle influencer while also providing social media services to small businesses as a freelance digital marketer.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been, but it’s been the road for me. After finishing undergrad in 2013 and grad school in 2016, I didn’t start working on the marketing space until 2019. Throughout that entire time, I considered if I was on the right path, or if I made a huge mistake getting into debt for a degree that I wasn’t using. But this gave me the motivation to not only build up my portfolio but pay off all my student loans so it could no longer hand over my head. Now, budgeting and paying off debt is a huge part of the message I share on my platforms.

Tell us more about your work.
Dezi Does It is unique as it encourages the message that you can do whatever you put your mind to. I don’t make content on one specific thing but all things self-improvement. I need to make meaningful and intentional content, instead of posting a cute selfie that doesn’t benefit anyone. For example, after paying off all my student loan debt, I created a Dezi Does It Digital Budget Template that people can use to organize their finances, and the reaction has been so positive! Me being vulnerable, open and always willing to serve others is what sets me apart.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Social media marketing will continue to evolve as the digital space expands. We’ve already seen a huge shift in the success of YouTubers and Instagram Influencers, so I have no doubt that it will continue to grow. Who knows if another platform will be introduced in the upcoming years, but just as we adapted to Facebook and Twitter once Myspace ended, we will adapt to that too.
