Thanks for sharing your story with us Isaura. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Of Colombian descent, but born and raised in Miami. As a child, I was always on the go, driven and looking for new things to learn. During college, while taking an accounting class online, the CFO for the company I once worked for asked me if I was interested in working in the Accounting department. I learned so much from this experience. After obtaining a degree in business from Florida International University, I found myself frequently thinking of starting a business of my own. I’m a strong believer that timing is everything in life and things always happen for a reason. During the holidays of 2013 my previous boss called me into his office and said he was going to close down the business and I had a few months to look for another job. Finally in early 2014, I placed an advertisement on craigslist and decided to reach out to CPA’s for referrals. Within a month of placing the ad, I was fortunate enough to turn bookkeeping into my full time business. Business kept coming in at a very fast paste, I move my office from my bedroom, into a coffee shop, to a small office space in Kendall, to now an office in the heart of Brickell. When the headquarters were located at the coffee shop call “Passion de Cielos” I knew it was time to hire my first employee and I am happy to say that Mia is still with us today.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Once a person starts on a new journey, there is always some trial and error. I’ve learned a lot over the past few years and it has helped tremendously. . I’ve been told many times that my business runs smoother than most; it’s not perfect, but I really cannot say I struggled. I however, do find challenges when hiring a new employee. At Isa’s Bookkeeping Services, we pride ourselves in giving great customer service and providing reports on a timely matter, I look for individuals with great work ethics as I strongly believe my business is only as good as the support I get from employees.

I have a bookkeeping company and work with a wide variety of businesses. We specialize in month to month maintenance of finances and provide an insight in the current and future state of a business. Our job is to maintain and monitor cash flow. For some clients, we do that on a monthly basis and for others it’s more of a weekly and sometimes daily task. In short, we use our client’s financial data to provide detailed reports regarding income and expenses thus helping business owners have an accurate picture of their business in the present, while providing information that can help them make decisions in the future, for example with cutting cost and or investments.
As a company, I am most proud of being able to help clients make financial decisions. I have worked with many clients from restaurants owners, to lawyers, to designers and I feel beyond blessed to be surrounded by professionals at all times.
What set’s Isa’s Bookkeeping Services from others is definitely customer Service. Oddly enough I’ve been told that when a client is looking for services many bookkeeping companies in Miami do not answer or if they do get an account they often time go out of business or stop showing up. We are also, one of the few bookkeeping companies that take on inventory accounts.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, as far as I can remember, I have always had a love for business. Those who know me personally can say I am living my dream. As a child while many were playing with dolls, my toy of preference was actually bills. A true story, as kids my cousin and I would gather bills from the mail room and pretend the toilet seat was a desk while the tub was an office. I still remember my constant battle in trying to win the rights to the tub.
I considered myself an old soul. I am very responsible & extremely goal oriented. As a young girl, I started writing my dreams in a journal. I am a believer in the quote “ask and you shall receive” from a young age I knew that whatever we put our mind to, we can achieve.
Isaura as a child and Isaura as a business owner do have similarities, I still dream, when I was growing up my goals and dreams were of course conquering the tub, passing classes with good grades, but today my dreams are much bigger I want to not only have a bookkeeping company, but many others, and continue to grow my success as a business woman.
