Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Cash.
Nicole, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am also known as Janecia Lowery. I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. As a child, I was always full of personality and talent. I loved to dance and sing, there was never a dull moment in my life. As I grew up, I grew a love for music. At first, I was just testing the waters doing songs here and there for others and myself, just having fun with it until one day I decided this was something I really wanted to do. After getting fired from my job at Logan’s Roadhouse, I decided to fully pursue music. At the time, I had enough savings to invest in myself so I did. I recorded my first actual song called “What You Lookin 4?” and the rest was history. I fought through my tears, fears, doubts and worries to follow my dreams and I wouldn’t have traded that for the world. I am now a music business major at Full Sail University, it was really hard at first but with God always by my side, I conquered through everything.
I believe in this realm, whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and giving up on my dreams and what’s important to me is not an option for me. Right now at the very moment, I am still pushing, still conquering my fears and making great music for myself to share with others and this is something I see myself doing for a very long time including many other things I am interested in. In life I have learned that it’s not about what you go through, it’s about what you get through, and just being alive today is an accomplishment on it’s on so cherish life as much as you can and always do your best no matter what.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Growing up in Alabama wasn’t always easy, like any other state or country it’s always so much going on, the good and the bad. I was blessed enough to grow up in a two-parent household with two of the most amazing parents. Sometimes I struggled with my confidence and needing validation from others to feel good about myself and music. Now, I have learned to appreciate who I am and who I am going to be and not depending on others to tell me who I am or if I am good enough. I also sometimes struggled with letting go and moving forward. I have now learned when you hold on to things, you’re placing yourself in a mental cage and in life, you are responsible for that. I now try my best to be my own lover, caregiver, supporter and forgiver. I am more focused on forgiving myself and living free, free from my own mind and free from what others may think of me.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a singer, rapper and songwriter. My heart is in all three. If I had to choose one between the three, I would choose songwriting. When I was young, I love writing little diddles and singing it. I once tried to record on a song on my reallllly old computer with a computer mic, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing but as funny as it is sounds I was having fun. Just a month ago, I started pursuing rap and it’s most definitely another side of me and I am learning to accept it. I am proud of the fact that I have enough courage to be doing what I am doing and actually getting things done. I feel like the only that sets me apart from someone else is my story but I do feel as though we are all the same. I will have my own label one day and I will name it “Nicole Cash Music” and it will be a place where you can be you.

What role has luck (good luck or bad luck) played in your life and business?
When it comes to luck, I feel like I think differently about it. Good luck is based off when something good happens and bad luck is based off when something bad happens but that’s not the way I interpret it mentally. I think even the “bad” is good because you learned something and that’s what life is really about. When things happen outside of our control, we tend to think we are doing something wrong when in reality, we’re doing exactly what we are supposed to be doing to learn whatever it is we need to learn to be better and do better. We all aren’t perfect so don’t sulk in mistakes you are only doing as much as you know so keep learning as you go.
