Meet Julio Garcia of Price Street Projects in Hialeah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julio Garcia.

PSP was created in 2003 in Savannah, GA. The original studio mainly functioned as a painting studio for the artist Julio. As time passed the studio was transformed into a working facility, where other artists and designers would come and share ideas. Ideas quickly turned into sketches and sketches into drawings and naturally these ideas where built into reality and physical objects or environments that an audience could experience.

The space transformed itself into a known hub where creative groups could bring their ideas and they would work closely and assist in bringing ideas into life.

Originally located on the corner of Price St. and 38th Ave in Savannah GA. The space gained its name Price Street Projects naturally by the audience who visited the space frequently to see what they had been working on.

In 2008 PSP, opened a second space in Brooklyn, New York. In addition to fabrication the studio introduced art direction, design visualization, production and project management to their business. The clients shifted from artists to brands, architects and other creative agencies.

Moving from New York to Miami in 2013. Today their studio is made up of like-minded individuals from different walks of life. They are designers, architects, artists, builders, makers, thinkers and dreamers. Together they make it all happen.

Has it been a smooth road?
At the entrance to our studio stenciled on the wall reads “If what we did was easy, it would be boring.” This quote serves as a reminder to everyone in the team that what we do here and what we build has never been built before. So it will naturally come with challenges but also with the opportunity to learn from those challenges. I always say, “If you want to make the same cracker this is the wrong kind of production company.” We are in the business of building experiences.

Of course, the transition from a group of young artists simply making beautiful things to becoming business folks had its learning curve for sure, but over the years we have been able to slowly adapt to our growth without losing grasp of our overall objectives. Our studios have grown from a simple carpentry shop with an old iMac computer to full service digital fabrication and production and project management facilities.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Price Street Projects – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Price Street Projects functions as a full service multidisciplinary design and fabrication studio. Our focus is to collaborate with brands and creative agencies to create and produce bold and diverse projects.

The studio offers full design, project management, fabrication and installation for experimental and challenging architectural projects.

We specialize in a wide range of projects including: temporary and permanent structures, brand experience, activations, pop-up venues, trades show displays and exhibition structures, storefront and retail displays, stage, film and theatrical sets.

We enjoy challenging projects that push beyond the traditional approaches to fabrication and deliver memorable audience experiences.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Miami has had its share of fun times over the years, but also some very dark times. It has definitely shifted from the old Miami Vice, South Beach Clubs and Cocaine Cowboys era into a well-respected and culturally admirable city within the art and design world. It’s a young city, it’s not New York or LA but it is well on its way.

What do I like least about Miami? Seeing large developers taking over the city and making it difficult for young entrepreneurs to have accessibility and affordability to start out. Sometimes I miss the old Miami…
