Meet Cameron Whitman of Zips Car Wash

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Whitman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Cameron. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Starting small in 1994, the owner Brett Overman, quickly realized the demand for an inexpensive, customer service orientated car wash. After surrounding ourselves with the best team members and talent that we could, Zips Car Wash began expanding smartly eventually becoming the second largest car wash company in the U.S. with over 80 locations in 9 states. (a large mile stone would be the acquisition of 31 Boomerang Car Wash sites in 2016). By emphasizing the Zips Way, we hope to build the best, friendliest, most economical customer service orientated business in the industry.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Our road to today was filled with challenges. However, by focusing on building our team the right way (drawing in career minded men and women that go out of their way to make a customer’s day) we have been able to grow exponentially in the last few years. This growth allows us to better serve our customers all across the country.

Zips Car Wash – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in express tunnel car washes. That is a customer’s car carried through our equipment and chemical bath by a conveyor without anyone touching the vehicle and then the customer is allowed free use of our well-maintained vacuums. At Zips, we want to emphasize the customer experience…we want to make washing your car a joy, not a chore. We offer 3 different unlimited use memberships to allow our customers to choose what best serves them. They are truly unlimited.

Access is controlled by a small RFID (like a sun pass sticker) sticker that programs the wash for them and allows them access a truly unlimited number of times a month for a single monthly fee, as little as $15 a month.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Zips defines success as SRFF…Safe, Right, Fast and Friendly. Our mission is to make the best car wash experience a joy for our customers and our team mates. With best in the business benefits, competitive salaries and training programs we draw the best people. These teams allow us to serve our customers and make their experience a true joy. That smile on a customer’s face equals success.

Pricing:

  • $5-$20 per wash depending on wash options.
  • Memberships from $15-$30 that allow unlimited use monthly with automated billing of a single fee.
