Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Silverman.
Dan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was pretty terrible with girls when I was very young. I was the typical nice guy. One to many heart breaks led me to start researching what I was doing wrong. It became a passion of mine and I got very good at dating and relationships. I started offering in-field dating coaching for men professionally in 2006 where I would take men out into public and have them practice approaching and flirting with women. A few years later, I incorporated dating coaching for women. 3 years ago, I included matchmaking services as a part of my business. I now provide all these services to this day including hosting singles events every month.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course not. Any small business has to go through its ups and downs. My troubles mostly consisted of not having enough clients and barely scraping buy to pay my bills. I am fortunate to have had very few problems with clients. In the 11 years I’ve been in business, I’ve only had 2 refund requests.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Matchmaking Miami story. Tell us more about the business.
My company is a hybrid matchmaking and dating coaching service for locally based (Dade/Broward county) singles. My business is well known for providing in-field dating coaching for men, where I take clients out to public places and have them practice approaching women. I’m very proud to be one of the only dating coaches in the area providing this service because for a man to fully develop his confidence with women and overcome his social anxiety, he will only be able to achieve this with real life practice, not in an office setting.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has only been a factor in getting me publicity appearances. When I’m on TV, radio, or print, sometimes it brings me a lot of new business, and sometimes I don’t hear a thing about it. Hopefully this interview will bring some luck.
