Meet Juan Pablo Baptista of Juampi in Doral

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Pablo Baptista.

Juan Pablo, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My real story began in 1985, and it’s a long one but today I will begin my story on 2014. That’s the year I came to the US. I came here in the middle of a very difficult situation in my country – Venezuela -, trying to find new challenges and looking for my dreams. Back in Venezuela, I used to compose and produce music for TV or Radio Commercials (Jingles), also I produce some new artists and bands of Folk music – Gaita-. When I came here, I started to build my network with old friends and new people. It has not been easy. I started playing with bands ( Drums, singing) and doing some TV music Postproduction for some companies but in the meanwhile, I was doing all my personal projects, my music, my songs and producing New Artists. Some of the recent stuff I have produced: Teff Music “Goodbye”, Dario “Me gustas tu”, my Cd “Atemporal”. Those first two made me really proud. Excellent artists and we are still working on the full Cd. On my end, I have a new project of Rock (instrumental, very 50’s) that will be out on June. As you can see, there is a lot going on but it wasn’t like that the firsts years. When I’m not working in my own projects I’m composing or/and producing stuff for companies that need Audio/Music services and how you can use the Internet to promote it (digital marketing), I’m also working with Telemundo on Post Production for soup opera’s. I would like to add as well that a couple of years ago I won the “Mara de Oro” with best song for a singer/songwriter with “Dejame Brillar”.

When I see where I am right now has been an amazing five years, now a member of the Latin Grammy’s as well has introduced me to a whole new range of artists that keep me developing my self. I hope my next projects could be heard in all parts of the world.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The main problem has been my family living difficult times in Venezuela and couldn’t help as I wanted.
A lot of competition here. You have to keep going and going and be your self. Trust your self.
About a year ago I had a notice about some of my family has Cancer and it hasn’t been easy.
I will keep going. That’s how it is

Please tell us about Juampi.
I do music. Producing, Composing, Singing, Playing some instruments. I specialized in creating, having Ideas…start from nothing at 8 pm on a Tuesday and have a song ready at 1 am on Wednesday. What makes me proud…I keep my roots..Venezuelan songs..pop music and rock, adding that to the music that sounds right now around the world makes my productions very special. When you put passion and you love what you do, the outcome is always good.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Keep my piano lessons when I was young LOL.
I would have sold songs when I was young (between 13 and 19)
Maybe I would be an Actor or Movie Director.
Don’t trust all the people that sell you dreams…I was very naive and I got frustrated many times.
