Today we’d like to introduce you to Guety Lazarre.
Before school starts every year in Haiti, SOBEH, Solidarity For The Wellness Of Children In Haiti, raises funds for our little brothers and sisters heading back to school in Haiti. We raise money for our children to have food to eat before going to school, school supplies, and shoes to wear.
Our reasoning?
After the earthquake in 2010 and the hurricane in 2016 hit our homeland Haiti, there was a huge struggle financially, emotionally, mentally and spiritually for our brothers and sisters back home. A lot of parents were not able to provide the funds to send their children to school, let alone meals to eat before & after class. So, they chose one or the other.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
About six years ago, Guety Lazzare went to visit her mother one summer in the village. While visiting, she came across some kids sitting outside of the school. When Guety questioned them, they explained how the school was sending them home because their parents could not pay for their exams. At that moment, Guety spoke with the school’s director and paid for 25 students to take their exams on the spot. She kept the student’s parents updated on what she has done.
Ever since then, Guety has been going back to Port de paix, Baraderes and L’asile every summer to not only pay for our brothers and sisters exams but to cook meals for our children while providing them bookbags full with supplies and shoes. She has been doing this since 2013 and has fed over 300 kids. Out of the kindness of Guety’s heart and with the help of close loved ones, grew SOBEH, Solidarity For The Wellness of Children In Haiti. This organization was not only created to feed our kids and send them to school but to also spread awareness on what is going on back in our homeland. Our brothers and sisters not only need financial support but mental and emotional support. Our philanthropist Guety is doing what she can. Now, it is time to let your voice be heard and lend a helping hand as well.
Please tell us about Sobeh Inc.
SOBEH is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is built on love, passion, and creativity. Our main purpose is to help out less privileged children. The founder, Ms. Guety Lazarre diligently planned and organized a successful trip to Haiti with the contributions of Jean Verel Belanston, a businessman, that assist with helping over 300 children last year. Ms. Lazarre provided the children with basic essential resources such as clothing, shoes, and food.
The founder Ms. Guety Lazarre, also took the time to visit local schools in Baradères, Haiti and was able to connect and discuss with several students. Since then, she realized that our next generation is our future and these kids need us. That experience boosts her motivation to contribute even more in the community. Our goal is to make a greater and positive impact on society.
“THIS YEAR WE ARE GOING FOR BIGGER AND BETTER! We would like to help 600 kids with fully-stocked backpacks to the school in Baradères, Haiti. With a small donation, you can fund a backpack filled with school supplies, shoes, and meals for one student in Haiti. So, in the Spirit of doing something with passion, lots of love, and creativity. Please take the opportunity to donate and have a positive impact on the life of a child. Now it is time to help SOBEH!” – Guety Lazarre
