Meet Belinda Noguera of TB Studio in Pembroke Pines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Belinda Noguera.

Belinda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my journey as a cosmetologist in 1986 in a local hair salon in Bayshore, Long Island. There, I learned the basics which formed my solid foundation in the industry. I quickly realized that I loved my career and wanted to expand my knowledge. To grow in my abilities, I moved to Brooklyn and worked at the high-end salon, Pilo Arts. I moved from there to Avi hair design, which was located by the UN. Avi was a famous hairstylist in Israel and quickly became my mentor. From there, I moved to Bumble and Bumble and then, The Village. Working in some of the most elite salons in New York gave me a priceless education that I will always remember as the most educational time of my life.

From there I moved back to Long Island where I worked at New Best salon. This salon was the catalyst of the product Artec – a toner in a take-home shampoo.

I moved to Pembroke Pines, Fl in 1995 where I settled down became the manager of Prime Cut, then eventually opened my business. “TB Studio… We kill Bad Hair” have also brought in my own line of hair products “TB Elixir… the remedy.”

I have been an educator for Fudge and Schwerzkopf products, taught corrective color and application to hairdressers and have been interviewed for Natural Glow magazine and Charlotte Howard’s “Success in Beauty” internet radio.

I have been awarded Angie’s List Super Service Award for four years.

I am also a single mom of two children and was a stepmom to three others for 15 years.

A single mom, and athlete and a business owner.

And it’s a pleasure and honor to be considered for your magazine.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s always intimidating to open your own business and to sell your own products. The competition is immense. You question if you will have the following to allow yourself to pay the bills. If you will acquire more of a clientele. Location is a huge part of this business, also if you have what it takes to run a business. It’s a 24 hour, 7 days a week job and when you have children and no one to fall back on, you have no choice but to push threw your doubts. It’s a juggling act that you have to keep organized. I’ve made a few mistakes but I will try things once and if it doesn’t benefit my clients. I drop it and move to the next thing. All you have is your craft and your integrity.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a hairdresser. I have my own suite. It’s a semi-new concept. I lease a room with 35 other suite owners. We are all our own salon. We get inspected individually and have own occupational licenses. I do all aspects of hair. What I enjoy the most, are the clients that come in with hair that is over-processed and severely damaged and given time. I repair it and give them beautiful hair again. My line of products is very straight forward. It’s a small line that does exactly what it says it will do. I use a line from Spain called Salerm.

I love to see the looks on my client’s faces when they have given up hope and then their hair is brought back to health.

When you look back, what are you most proud of?
When a client that had left me came back after a few years and told me that they didn’t care that I was out of the way. They knew I would be able to fix it. After about four months, she turned to me and said. I knew you would bring my hair back and make it soft again.

Also, when my website developer recorded a YouTube video. He interviewed my clients but wouldn’t let me see what he was recording. When it was done he shot me a text and asked me if I wanted to see it. I was at the gym and of course, said yes. I was so nervous. I went to the locker room and began to watch it. Well, I began to cry right there. My clients said the most amazing things and I think my heart exploded with emotion and pride.
8 Shades of Blue rocked my world.
