Meet Ronald Stewart of RRW Traders in Lauderhill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronald Stewart.

Ronald, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey into the transportation industry began once I left my retail job of ten years.

RRW TRADERS INC started January 16th, 2018 but I began in the transport industry in November 2014 as a driver for a small company in Ft Lauderdale.

I worked there for about six months learning how to use tow trucks and other equipment like a dually with a two-car trailer. They had exceptional customer service skills and coupled with my own skillset, we made good use of making connections with local auto brokers and dealers. Mainly doing local and at times interstate auto transport.

I was lucky and the owner of the company had a friend in need of a driver to transport cars to new york from Miami. So I moved on to a bigger transport company after only six months of experience.

So, in June of 2015, I began driving tractor-trailers for the new company out of Miramar hauling automobiles along the east coast. Mainly Miami Broward West palm beach to New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

I learned what it took to be an Over The Road driver and my employer taught me how to operate a trucking company from the ground up. From changing the oil on the tractor to fixing the hydraulic piston on the trailer. Painting the trailer and doing daily inspections while on the road.

I loved being out on the open road doing my pickups and deliveries. It was and still is exciting to me as I’m always going somewhere new and meeting new people along the way. It feels like I’m delivering joy to people as they are very excited to receive their vehicles.

After a year with that company, lady luck smiled on me again and I moved to another company out of West palm beach where I was tasked with not only driving and operating the equipment but also booking and dispatching the truck.

At this point, I told my employer I would give them two years as I wanted to start my own company. They agreed took a chance and allowed me to take Helm. We did four trips a month to New York and back. They were very efficient and would help to pick up and deliver vehicles at times and we worked well together. All that time I saved as much as I could.

Once I saved up enough I was able to use my house as collateral to secure additional funds and in 2018 RRW TRADERS inc was born.

I also had a business plan in writing and modeled my company off the best qualities of my prior employers:
Customer service
Experience knowledge know-how
Efficiency

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest challenge is being able to have work-life balance. Especially being an Over The Road (OTR) owner-operator you’re away from home a lot. Sometimes you need to work on birthdays and holidays. One year was out on the road for Christmas day for example.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with RRW Traders INC – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
It’s my work ethic and customer service. My work entails auto transport from state to state. My equipment is able to carry up to 10 cars but I mainly carry nine due to vehicle sizes on each load.

I book cars through my load board or from brokers directly. Contact the customers, drive to there location or a meeting point. Inspect the vehicle on outside for any damage or issues. Then, loading the vehicle onto trailer. Once loaded the vehicle is then secured via straps, one strap on each tire.

I try to operate at a high level of efficiency with a commitment to customer service. So, I generally contact my customer right away or a day before pick up or delivery to find out there availability and timing. And pretty much stay in contact or be available to them to answer any questions or concerns about pick up or delivery. I strive to deliver not only your vehicle but the best customer service experience possible.

The job is very detailed oriented from the broker to customer interaction not to mention many safety guidelines. Once you operate commercial equipment you have to follow specific rules and observe all safety measures.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I probably would have saved more. Nothing beats having back up capital.

As an owner-operator, equipment may fail or there is an emergency or miscellaneous life events happen which cause you to dip in my pocket for pocket.
