Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephani Lamoni.
Stephani, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
So, the journey to Pop up & Shop up kinda started before it even really started if that makes sense. I actually had a swimwear line from 2012 till about 2015 which I totally thought was going to be the biggest thing in Miami, I was wrong. Retail is a lot of work & it truly has to be your PASSION if it’s not, then it won’t go anywhere. I also just started noticing how people won’t support something that you start simply because it’s you. They would prefer to purchase the same item from a different company rather than put that money in your pocket. So, after I gave birth to my daughter in 2016, I was debating on relaunching my swimwear line. Honestly, I didn’t want to! I had no desire to do so. So, I started thinking of ways to help other small businesses bring exposure to THEIR brands, how to help them network + profit all at one time. How to show them that in a world full of so much competition we could collaborate & achieve so much more. It was really just a thought & I would just add little notes on my phone on how I planned on starting this. In 2018 was when I really started putting all my notes together & planning the execution of my idea. I had never planned an event in my life but I just knew I would be able to pull it off & in Jan 2019 I launched Pop up & Shop!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Honestly, the events have gone very well so in that aspect it’s been smooth. However, these events do take a lot of time + work, so the journey to the actual event is not too smooth, especially when you have a million other things to juggle.
Please tell us about Pop up & Shop up.
Pop up & Shop is a series of pop up shops throughout the year where local small businesses/brands have the opportunity to sell/promote their products. Our goal is to give them the platform to network with potential buyers while helping them bring major exposure to their brand.
What role has luck had in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck. You have to put in the work to get results, simple.
