Thanks for sharing your story with us Jennifer and Sidonia Rose. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Amidst the chaos and shifting societal expectations of women, we sought options – and found ourselves with more questions than answers about egg freezing. We are Jennifer and Sidonia, and at Freeze Health we help women decide if, when, and where to freeze their eggs. Freeze helps women evaluate their options while saving them time and money.
Even with a background in healthcare (we both worked at multiple healthcare startups before Freeze), we struggled to find simple and accurate information – and could only imagine how daunting this can process be for other women! After spending hundreds of hours researching fertility clinics that offer egg freezing so that we could decide where to freeze our own eggs, we decided to publish the information we gathered so that other women could use it as a tool themselves.
In August of 2018, we launched Freeze in order to make researching an egg freezing clinic as simple and easy as it can be. Over the past year, we have created the first and only pricing database – available online for free – including over 150 egg freezing clinics across the U.S. and beyond. Our Compare Clinics tool gives women an all-access pass to fertility clinics – saving them the time hassle and exposing hidden fees. The resource is constantly growing, with more clinics being added and more fertility specialists writing in to provide answers to common questions women have when thinking of freezing their eggs.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like any startup, we face your typical challenges in building a business. However, we must additionally navigate the rules and regulations of the healthcare industry. Traditional business models don’t apply – it’s been tough but it has certainly taught us to be flexible and innovative.
We have also found that the medical community sometimes doubts our perspective since we aren’t doctors ourselves. To combat this, we’ve found it important to emphasize that we bring a much-needed voice to the conversation – egg-freezing patients – and we point out that our educational content comes directly from medical experts.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Freeze Health – what should we know?
At Freeze, we provide women with access to our Compare Clinics tool for FREE! There, they can find extensive information about different clinic options and pricing. We send monthly newsletters informing on the latest news and events and share with them our blog posts full of helpful information of the egg freezing space. Freeze is free of charge to our “sister-girls” (women who are considering egg freezing) as we believe this information should be accessible to all women. This helps us create a network of women that review their experiences at certain clinics, creating a complete database for the next generation of women.
Additionally, we connect fertility clinics to an often overlooked customer base – millennial women who are planning ahead in their fertility journey. The vast majority of patients seen at fertility clinics are individuals and couples who are trying to conceive, but are experiencing infertility and may have waited too long. By partnering with Freeze, these clinics get the chance to speak directly to a different audience – women who are working to prevent future infertility. Fertility doctors also have the opportunity to author an “Eggspert Answer” to common egg freezing questions – so that women visiting Freeze know their information is coming from a medical expert.
