Meet Alexander Delgado, Akbar Bokhari, and Carlos Franco of Iris Prints in Miramar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Delgado, Akbar Bokhari, and Carlos Franco.

Alexander, Akbar, and Carlos, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Although Iris Prints is a fairly new company, our personal relationship started 10 years ago when we met as co-workers at a men’s formal wear store. Our competitive natures brought us together and over the past ten years, we have formed a bond that extends much further than just business. As we began our own individual careers we began to realize that we weren’t satisfied with the traditional 9-5 structure and wanted to work towards something we could call our own. As a result, Iris Prints was born! We believe that through our superior customer service and dedicated work ethic we’ll be able to grow and expand into one of the premier textile printers in South Florida.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
On the contrary, this has been an extremely tough journey from learning the trade to mastering it. Although we came from an apparel background in men’s formal wear, We are now catering towards a different consumer demographic. The majority of our experience was based in sales so this is our first experience of the behind the scenes dynamic of the business world. Our initial exposure to the production side of things was a huge reality check as something that we thought “would be easy” turned out to be one of the most humbling experiences. It’s incredibly surreal to look back and see the fruits of our labor, and consequently, it is one of our biggest motivating factors in continuing to pursue further success.

Please tell us about Iris Prints.
Our business functions as a high-quality textile print shop that specializes in various forms of textile printing, including but not limited to, silk screen printing, embroidery, and heat press services as well. Our aim is to provide top of the line custom apparel with personalized service to all our clients. Our in-house design team is able to assist our clients with their existing logos as well as creating new logos for them if needed. We like to differentiate our selves from our competition by going above and beyond for our clients because we understand that while we may be printing T-shirts, we are also indirectly facilitating the creation of lifetime moments for our consumers.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Miami is not only an amazing city to live in but an amazing city to start a business in as well. The cultural diversity found in South Florida provides many outlets to offer our services and also allows us to showcase our ability on various types of projects. It is also a major business and financial hub, which fuels additional channels we can tap into for clientele.

While it offers many advantages it also has its fair share of disadvantages. The main one for us being competition, as we aren’t the first and definitely aren’t the last to see the business potential for custom textiles in South Florida. However, due to the demand for custom apparel, we aren’t discouraged by the competition.
