Meet William Sanchez of CompassMSP Miami in Coral Gables

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Sanchez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us William. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been fascinated by the IT world. This love of tech, led to consulting work for a few clients. Little did I know that attending an area IT event would set me on a path where I’ve never looked back. At the event I met Urs, a fellow consultant who shared the same passion for IT. He and I began successfully partnering on select projects.

Our skill sets complimented each other perfectly. What started out as teamwork lead to the development of our own successful IT firm – Cubed Group. The timing was perfect. Miami was in the middle of a real estate boom and the area went through some terrible hurricane seasons which exposed the technology vulnerability of the region. We were able to deliver our unique services quickly with special focus on backup and recovery.

We were fortunate that our client base grew and with it the excitement of evolving into a fully staffed IT company. After a while we knew it was time to expand our operations and look to take the company to the next plateau. We were committed to finding the right partner who understood our culture and what made us special in the South Florida community. I like to always say that finding the smart partner IS the right partner! And, I’m proud to say that we found the ideal group with CompassMSP. Our merger has allowed us to quickly become a leading managed service provider with two regional offices in Florida with expansion plans along the US East Coast.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth is a relative term and perfection doesn’t exist. What has always been the key for us is understanding the power of relationships. We look at our employees as team members and our clients as partners. These are not just trendy business terms for us, but rather the DNA of how we operate. Our success has been driven by everyone’s chemistry. Knowing when to bring in the next person is not a staffing issue for us, but rather a puzzle where each person is a piece of the continuing big picture.

Urs and I knew how to balance business operations with relationship building. Our growth allowed us to become employers. It’s a much different mindset when you just have each other’s back. But now, we were responsible for not just finding employees but rather building a team where all parties look out for each other – especially our clients. Again, with relationships always driving our success, the team members we brought on board needed to possess our high standard of effective system process and customer-first mindset.

Please tell us about CompassMSP Miami.
Compass is a Managed Service Provider (MSP) of information technology (IT) and telecom services. Our reputation for best in class customer service has resulted in long lasting client relationships. We are an extension of their team, not a vendor. Together, we develop specific IT strategies specific to very direct determined outcomes. There is no “one-size-fits-all” IT and telecom solution. Our flexible and innovative approach always sets us apart from the competition.

We know how our clients can use technology to grow their business and achieve their goals. Rather than just learning our client’s business, we take the unique route of going directly to potential obstacles hindering optimal efficiency. This method allows us to devise solutions resulting in improved operation, streamlined processes while impacting the bottom line.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’ve learned that it’s critical in both life and business to be ready when opportunity strikes. Though there may be a great deal of luck in the essence of timing, the businesses that are able to take advantage of opportunities are those that are ready to do so. Most of what happens in business is that opportunities are missed not because a business is unlucky, but because they were unprepared.
