Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Berounsky.
Doug started Douglas Orr Plumbing, Inc. in 1974 as a one truck company performing service calls in Miami Springs.
Since that day the company has grown dramatically. Service calls and small jobs turned in to new construction jobs and large jobs.
He retired in 2004 and Wayne Orr, President (Son), Kevin Berounsky, VP (Step-son), and Chris Behrens, CFO (Son-in-law) took over the reins and have continued to grow the business through large and small commercial projects and putting more emphasis on the Service Division.
There is no job too large or too small. They just finished the multi-million Brickell City Centre project in Downtown Miami that consisted of office and condo towers, an upscale mall, parking garage and hotel. The Service Division averages over 50 calls per day.
Has it been a smooth road?
Every construction company is faced with the highs and lows of the economy.
Historically our company was growing each year. It was a little difficult for us during the last recession.
However, we stood strong and stayed to our core values and did whatever we needed to do to keep are key employees.
Fortunately, Doug had a vision when this company was young to keep it diversified through Service and New Construction.

We are known as the plumbing company that can do it all. I believe what separates us from our competition is the training that our employees are given. We are a member of Plumbers Local Union 519 and most of our employees have completed a 5 year apprenticeship program that teaches them how to work in all aspects of the business, learn plumbing code, and take OSHA safety classes.
We all work very hard and put in the hours it takes to be a successful company. We always stand behind our work and install plumbing to code. We also understand the importance of taking care of our customers and our employees. Many of our plumbers have been with us from 10 to 30 years. We take pride in that.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The best thing we like about our city is it diversity. We were all born and raised here and have seen the changes Miami has gone through from the 70’s to its present day. Miami is such a unique place, you have people from all over the world that visit here and invest here. It has a great vibe and there is always something going on.
Dislikes – no time to hate, it has been good to all of us.
